Radiohead Almost Didn’t Release This Song

MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Opening of Creep)

Back in 1993, on January 14,
Radiohead’s “Creep” went to No. 1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.

(Music Cut 2 — verse settles in)

At first, the band didn’t even plan on releasing this song —
it only made the album after encouragement from their producers.

Thom Yorke later said it was inspired by someone he admired from a distance —
someone he felt was simply too good for him.
