On this date back in 2014, a Christmas tradition came to an end.

For nearly 30 years, Darlene Love closed out David Letterman’s Christmas shows with this song.

It started in 1986.
It worked once.
So Dave brought it back — every single year.

But in 2014, with Letterman retiring, she sang it on his show for the final time.

Same song.
Same power.
One last night.

Some things don’t need reinventing —
they just need showing up.
