Weezer Turned Harmonicas Into Foul Balls

MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1)

It’s May 10th – Happy Mother’s Day.

But on this date back in 1994…

Weezer released their debut “Blue Album”-

and the single that led things off
“My Name Is Jonas.”

Right in the middle of the song…

is one of the most famous harmonica solos in ‘90s alt-rock.

There was just one problem –

Rivers Cuomo wasn’t really a harmonica player.

(Music Cut #3)

Early on, Rivers would struggle
with the harmonica key during live shows –

where he’d eventually just heave off the harmonica into the crowd.

LYRIC OF THE DAY:
“Come sit next to me, pour yourself some tea
Just like Grandma made when we couldn’t find sleep
Things were better then, once but never again.” – Weezer
