Movies That Matter / 10-23-26
(Movies That Matter Intro)
Welcome to Movies That Matter, where we look at three movies worth knowing about before the weekend begins.
This week: DC is getting creepy, Jenna Ortega is the fake friend, and the studio behind Coraline is taking us into the Wildwood.
(Countdown Video)
What’s new? Gotham City is getting a horror movie.
(Clayface clip – “You have to learn to control it”)
Tom Rhys Harries stars in Clayface as Matt Hagen – an actor whose life takes a very ugly turn when he becomes one of DC’s most recognizable villains.
(Clayface clip – “I don’t even know who you are”)
Again, that’s Clayface… in Gotham City… and I really miss Batman now.
If you’re like me, we need something a little less terrifying…
(Klara and the Sun clip – “Let me find a friend”)
Jenna Ortega stars in Klara and the Sun as Klara – an Artificial Friend chosen by a seriously ill young girl named Josie.
(Klara and the Sun clip – “Show me the way to heal this family”)
Klara quickly realizes she may be expected to do a whole lot more than just be Josie’s friend.
And finally, let’s check out the newest adventure from LAIKA – the studio behind Coraline.
(Wildwood clip – “My brother is in here”)
Wildwood sends a girl into a forbidden forest after her baby brother is kidnapped by a murder of crows.
Yup… a murder of crows. And apparently that’s just the beginning – we’ve got witches too.
(Wildwood clip – “There are witches…”)
If that deep voice in the trailer sounds familiar, well it’s the band San Fermin with their song “The Woods.”
That’s this weekend’s Movies That Matter. From Gotham City horror to artificial friends to one very strange forest, there should be something waiting for you at the movies.
Until next time – keep on popping the corn.
