Race Day! Turkey Trot in Newark!! / Podcast learnings with Tim Ferriss via All the Hacks / Zeno quote

morning babble / Saturday 11-20-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Lately, I just don’t have enough time to listen to all the podcasts that I want to be listening to. I have so many downloaded and ready to go. Chase Jarvis has an interview with Malcolm Gladwell. Peter Attia has one with James Clear. And then there’s the world of NFTs and Cryptocurrency – just a ton of new stuff that I’ve been following and listening to. Making my mind fly in all kinds of directions.

And then this conversation stuck out to me between Tim Ferriss and Chris Hutchins – it was like a combo podcast with the Ferriss show pushing it, but it was on the Hutchins podcast too – “All the Hacks.”

Ferriss was asked for his process for reassessing what he’s doing.
The response: “Simple check-in and boiled down to this: How do you feel when you first wake up? How easily to do you go to sleep?”

I didn’t run yet. #324 of my 5K runs for the year will be officially done at the 49th Annual Newark Turkey Trot in Newark, DE.

Muddy November pours on. Like that? Anyway. Even if I wanted to cheat yesterday at a Starbucks – I couldn’t find one that was open. I was going to get a Matcha Green Tea Latte with hopes of a Pumpkin Scone.

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – After Muddy November – what’s next? December. I have an idea. Nothing really too challenging, but I’m hoping to make something fun. Still pondering.
  • Question #2 – After the Turkey Trot, any other races this year? No. At least, I don’t think so. I realize that there are a bunch of Santa Runs but I already know that my December is filling up with holiday stuff on the weekends.
  • Questions #3 – When’s your next fast? Monday, December 6th – my last of the year. I will have done a 3 day fast every month of the year.

Brrrrr! / New Music Friday: some woman named Adele? Also, Eddie Vedder, Elbow, Sia, and babblings

morning babble / Friday 11-19-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I ran #323 of the 5K runs for the year 2021. Tomorrow – race day. 49th Annual Newark Turkey Trot 5K.

Muddy November continues

New Music Friday:

  • Adele. That’s all you need to know. Adele. Album name is 30. Go listen – 12 songs – 58 minutes and 18 seconds of glorious tunage.
  • Elbow released their ninth studio album, Flying Dream 1, Lead singer, Guy Garvey – if you like the sound of Peter Gabriel, you’ll enjoy this guy.
  • Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker – USS – has a new album out called The Science & Artfunkel Victory Lap. I had to hit up Wikipedia. I liked what they wrote explaining their music: “The band’s sound was a mixture of drum and bass beats, grunge-like guitar riffs, and 2-step rhythms. “We like to call what we do the campfire after-party”, Ash Buchholz has said; “It’s like you’re at Nirvana Unplugged but there’s a drum and bass party and glow sticks all around you.” Sadly though – this is it. Last, last album. Touring for the last, last time.
  • Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder is back with another new song called “The Haves,” which will appear on his new solo album called Earthling. The album now has a release date: Feb 11th.
  • HOLIDAY MUSIC – Spoon are among the latest artists to share a new cover for Spotify’s holiday singles playlist. They did a rendition of the Beatles’ “Christmas Time (Is Here Again).” Lucifer on the Sofa, their 10th album, is out February 11. They did a video for the record’s first single, “The Hardest Cut.”
  • HOLIDAY Music – Sia – I missed this one. She did what Ben Rector did. Couple years ago, she came out with Every Day is Christmas. This year, she came out with the deluxe edition that included 3 new songs: “Pin Drop,” “Santa Visits Everyone” and “Snowman (Slowed Down and Snowed in Remix).” I really enjoyed “Candy Cane Lane” as well as “Ho Ho Ho.”

Our dog – Brodie / New cereal coming! / Jeremy Bentham quote

morning babble / Thursday 11-18-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Brodie – this is our first family dog. 17 years. 119 when compared to us? The simple conversion of 17 x 7. He’s really stinking old. 4.5 years ago – well, we also thought it was nearly over. It was like a Tuesday, we just moved and he was not digging the new place. We were preparing the kids. My wife and I set the deadline of Friday that we were taking him in to the vet . . . for whatever. We said all of this out loud in front of him. The next day, he was moving differently. And the same thing happened the next day. By Friday, we had normal Brodie again. It really was amazing. BUT – the times of today are a little different. We’re taking care of our little man, but trying to prepare for that unfortunate morning. In the meantime, I’ll still poke fun at him . . . because that’s what I’ve done all along. I love my Brodie-man!

Not complaining- almost / MUD\WTR is making this “no coffee” thing . . . easy / Vincent Van Gogh quote

morning babble / Wednesday 11-17-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Remember those first couple days after Daylight Savings Time ended and you would pop out of bed?

I’m doing so much better with my complaining. Keeping it to myself. Inside the car. If I wasn’t alone and someone was sitting next to me . . . well, they would probably explain how I’ve yelled into the ceiling of the vehicle several times, hit the steering well, looking at the phone and saying “Idiot”, I guess what I’m saying is that I’ve been pretty good this week with not complaining to others, but as for myself . . . I’m still struggling.

I ran #321 of 5K runs in a row. Also, officially all signed up for the 49th Annual Newark Turkey Trot 5K that’s this Saturday the 20th. Elliott will be running it too – remember, he’s 12, so this is very big stuff for him. “I have to wear a number thingy?” Yes.

Working from the tub? “I’m out.” / Already missing you, Eggnog Latte / Quote via Casey Neistat

morning babble / Tuesday 11-16-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I won’t lie – when I ask Google to play Christmas Jazz Music – it’s been chilling me out. I love knowing the happy songs being played without hearing the words right now.

Muddy November continues – After today, more than half way there! My celebration was going to be an Eggnog Latte from Starbucks. That’s not happening this year. Horrible. They don’t even have the Gingerbread latte. Although, in my book, I blame that beverage for causing my 3 o’clock coffee binge. Back in 99, I worked in Baltimore. Our radio station’s building was in a shopping center that had a Starbucks. It was when I was first introduced to the Gingerbread latte, which was like crack to a coffee drinker.

Gary Vee & I share something/ 319th run with podcasts of #nft talk & pies in my ears/ Gary Vee Quote

morning babble / Monday 11-15-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Welcome to Monday and a week of No complaining. We shall see.

Muddy November continues – no coffee yesterday. I forgot to mention, this past weekend at one point we were getting some food from Arby’s. My wife asked if I wanted the coffee milkshake. It’s so good. I said – “No.” I was so good. The chocolate shake wasn’t too bad.

I ran #319 of my 5K runs – in a row. The goal is almost here. A month & a half away!

During the mill run, I listened to Props & Drops podcast. They talk a lot of sports, but they’ve been wandering into the NFT world a lot. Gary (Vaynerchuk) Vee is all in on NFTs and has been a fun follow on Twitter. He’s done all kinds of things in his life and an interesting fellow to look into. He likes the Jets. I like the Eagles. We both hate the Giants.

I actually only had the last 15 minutes of the Gary Vee podcast – so many notes.

From there, it was off to one of my GOATs – Dave Chang and his podcast. Not doing a fast, so I could listen to their pie episode. More of those to come as it gets closer to Turkey Day which by the way is next week.

Books on a Sunday: The Code Breaker / Greenlights / The Daily Stoic & Journal / Quote by Walter Isaacson

morning babble / Sunday 11-14-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I haven’t run yet. #318 will take place on the outside trails with my son. The two of us will be running in the Turkey Trot next Saturday along with some friends and their kids. Not sure yet, if I’m going to go for any personal records or run next to my son. I only ponder that because I know that there will be 2 kids that he can run with – I would feel sorta out of place. There should be more where it could be just me and him. AND – I know that there will be a day where he could be way ahead of me.

Muddy November continues on – Go get some MUD/WTR – http://fbuy.me/v/bevans11

Books!

  • The Code Breaker by Walter Isaacson – Finished! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll admit that it was a tough listen at times. I had to go back and relisten – whether it was a moment in time, when my brain just went off looking for a unicorn or I fell asleep. A whole lot of science and I like & believe in science. One of the stars of the book was Jennifer Doudna along with the discovery of RNA and the powers that it can have over issues like our modern-day Corona virus problem. What drew me to this book is 1) Walter Isaacson wrote it and 2) How Jennifer Doudna overcame her guidance counselor telling her that girls don’t grow up to be scientists. She got to tell that story after receiving the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
  • Next up via Audible – Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey

Survive the double shot? / TV show talk – Hawkeye and The Book of Boba Fett / Quote via MLK Jr

morning babble / Saturday 11-13-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Got both of my shots – Covid Booster and Flu! Bam & Bam. Both arms hurt. Feeling good though. Except that I couldn’t really sleep. I was up every hour and then just got up at 4:30pm. Craving jelly on toast – so, I had some. Tea also. Now, I’ve got my Mud though.

Isn’t the toast and jelly a sick thing? Like ginger ale and Jell-O. As a kid, my mom would always offer that when not feeling well. I remember her offering it at times when I didn’t even know I was sick yet.

Muddy November continues – 1/3 of the way through the month!

I ran #317! 5K every day

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – Any new shows that you are watching? I would always talk about the Marvel shows: WandaVision / The Falcon & The Winter Soldier / Loki. Nothing playing right now but coming on 11/24 is the Hawkeye Series, definitely looking forward to that. Marvel also announced that they will be coming out with “I am Groot” series – love that character. Changing universes, I just learned last night that there is a Boba Fett series coming to Disney+ and that debuts on December 29th – “The Book of Boba Fett”
  • Question #2 – Didn’t you do another TV interview? Yes. Here’s the link to go see that.

New Music Friday: Taylor Swift, Jack White, Ben Rector / Big Oyster Brewery broke the 3 Day Fast

morning babble / Friday 11-12-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Fast was broken officially with a beer via Big Oyster Brewery and then French onion soup. Dessert – I tried to resist. We just need to get them out of the house.

No Java / All MUD! Muddy November continues. 11 days down. Go get some of your own MUD/WTR – http://fbuy.me/v/bevans11

I ran #316 of 5K runs – in a row!

I get my Booster today. My wife got hers and didn’t move too much last weekend. We’ll see how I’m doing tomorrow. Might get my flu shot too. Bam & Bam!

New Music Friday:

  • New Taylor Swift – sort of. It’s her rerecorded album Red (Taylor’s Version). Back in June, she posted to Twitter: “This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even ten minutes long.” Speaking of which, yes, later today she is dropping a short film for the 10-minute version of her song “All Too Well.” Swifties are convinced it’s about her former boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal.
  • This made my day yesterday and makes me look forward to 2022 so much. Jack White announced that he’ll be releasing two new albums next year: Fear of the Dawn will be out April 8th. Released already from this album is White’s recent single “Taking Me Back,” which also has a new music video: click here for that. Less than 4 months later, he then releases his 2nd album of the year: Entering Heaven Alive is out July 22. One of the tracks on that album is a collaboration with Q-Tip on the song: “HI-DE-HO.” His record company Third Man Records will be behind these albums and all kinds of specialty vinyl is coming!
  • Korn have announced that their 14th studio album – Requiem – will be released next year on Feb 4th. The new album was recently teased on a series of interactive billboards which allowed fans to see its artwork. New single dropped and is called “Start The Healing”
  • Adele has previewed another new song titled “Hold On,” the second song from her forthcoming album 30. It appears in a new holiday-themed advertisement for Amazon. So this is just a reminder that the whole album is out next Friday the 19th.
  • Brent Music – They Might Be Giants’ new album BOOK is out – all 15 tracks are available like on Spotify OR if you buy the album, you can get it accompanied by a large hardcover lyric book, featuring original art connected to the new batch of songs, as well as selected pieces from their last few releases.
  • Holiday Music – Ben Rector came out with “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and added it to his Christmas album that came out from a year ago. So, now instead of 7 holiday tunes from Ben, you get 8. Otherwise, nothing really new out now. All the holiday albums are out for the most part. BUT – what has happened – local radio stations that to their typical flip to all Christmas music have done so. For this area, we got two of them: 99.5 WJBR and B101.

Really did burn my tongue yesterday. Tip to keep your coffee, tea, or MUD\WTR hot throughout the day in your travel mug. Heat up your travel mugs first.

It’s 11:11 all day – make a wish all day!

Happy Veterans Day

I ran #315

My wife was in class last night, so I had to make the kids dinner. Chicken nuggets and Mac & Cheese are my specialty with them. I made it. The ice cream scooping. you know how you get a little on your finger and just want to lick it off. Couldn’t do that.

Paul Rudd – sexiest man of the year – he’s 52. He looks the same! He was in Clueless back in 95 (he was 26 then).
