Happy Weekend? Happy Summer Weekend!

(video)

Welcome to the Official Start of Summer – Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I’m excited to get outside even more. Sort of.

The amount of pollen on the cars in the morning – unreal. It’s like winter, but not. Have to use that car snow brush thing. So much pollen. I have to shovel the sidewalks of pollen so the neighbors can go on their walks. As a courtesy, leave out some Kleenex at the end of the driveway for everyone to use. Everybody’s sneezing. (sneezing Panda)

By the way, these outside runs of mine because the treadmill is shot. Holy ouch to my body. After one this past week, I had to put an ice pack on my face. Not my feet or legs or anything run related but my face. Took awhile and several Benadryl to become normalized again.

Also, I have come up with a challenge for myself that will begin June 1st and continue throughout the entire month while vlogging every day. I’ll announce it on Memorial Day Monday, because it still terrifies me. I really want to push myself, but . . . we’ll see. (clip)

Oh, and my 3-Day Fast. I completed it. Some people reached out because I didn’t post what I ate to break the fast on Instagram like I normally do. We were actually out as a family to another family’s home for a birthday party. Crabs and beer broke the fast. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat the crabs the way I probably would have if I was in my own home (clip)

New Music Friday:

Finally – Let’s get into this.

As always, I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • First up – Beyonce with her song: “America Has a Problem” – this song has already been out there courtesy of her recent Renaissance album. BUT – this is an updated version with some dude named Kendrick Lamar joins in (clip)
  • So, Beyonce creating great music and then taking it again to making it even greater or more better. Taylor Swift is doing the same thing with “Karma” which is off of her Midnights album. For this revision, she includes Ice Spice on the song (clip)
  • So, Beyonce and Taylor giving us new music by tweaking their old music a little bit. So, let’s get into some really new music (clip) “Dance The Night” from Dua Lipa – her contribution to the upcoming Barbie movie soundtrack. The Barbie movie which stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken – comes out July 21st.
  • (Clip) That’s KennyHoopla with his song “You Needed a Hit” . Via the Alternative Press, he was quoted as saying that this song “felt like the perfect song to start a roll out with,” he also confirmed that “more music is on the way.” By the way, that’s his dog is in the video (clip) Happy bunnies there at the end. KennyHoopla appears to have the same humor as the band that he’s opening for (clip) Blink-182 – I am so ready for new music from them. I recently got an email because I’m geeky like that and on their email list, but it said something about being available now and I was excited it being new music. It was not. Instead it was tour accessories that they are selling on tour but you can also buy online. (pix) Those guys just make me giggle.
  • (Laser) Couple Quick Hits of Music Updates: Post Malone has announced details of his next album which is self-titled, sort of. It’s called Austin, which is his birth name. I could have sworn it was Post. Anyway, album is out July 28th – lots of him on the guitar, too. (Laser) // Janelle Monae – I don’t know what I’m more excited about her new album out on June 9th or my new Rolling Stone magazine arriving to my mailbox (pix) That’s her on the cover. They call that a titillating magazine cover. (Laser) //

Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork & I know there’s undoubtedly more.

I go through it all for the New Music Friday (thanks brent)

morning babble / Monday 05-22-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Happy Monday!

Wife was away this weekend . . . so, what did me and the kids do to get ourselves into trouble? Well, we shopped in the little city of Newark, DE.

Captain Blue Hen Comics – we picked up our subscription order. Everybody loves Batman. (picture) Everybody.

Next – Rainbow Records – I was hoping for the newest album from The National (clip) all in on that new sound, but they didn’t have it. Sold out of it with more coming later this week. My daughter asked the woman at the counter for any Lindsey Stirling records – they did not have that either. Every time in there, I’m going to let her ask. One day – they’ll have one and I’ll get it right then and there. We were just done perusing the story and about to leave, when my daughter asked about Taylor Swift, who she has been way into lately. Understandably so with all the recent hype of her visiting the area for her concerts.

My son wanted Kendrick Lamar’s Damn album – I was close, but couldn’t do that one. It’s tough going with some of the Hip-Hop albums or Hard Rock albums with the in your face language. We got Snoop on Record Store Day – made it about 10 seconds in and was like “I’m not sure about this right now” – let it go for another 10 to 15 seconds and was like “We Out” – gotta wait to the little girl is not home.

Also, we hit up Barnes & Noble because we had won a gift card. Got them each a book.

GOAL SETTING MONDAY & REVIEW –

Happy Weekend – Tacos & Cervezas! / Dunce Whiskey – but, I can explain / and New Music Friday

morning babble / Friday 05-19-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Don’t need this anymore.

Had to cover up my shirt for a meeting this morning. Not good to meet with an employee for a review while wearing “Tacos and Cervazas”

Happy Weekend!

By the way – some of you are quite perceptive. Asking me if I’m drinking during the show.

No – but it’s a possibility. I have Dunce Whiskey in the background. Picked this up at Philly’s Art in the Age. I working on a video of reviewing this book.

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • When I was talking about Blur this past Monday (clip), I had no idea that a new album was on the way. But – here we are. Last album made was 8 years ago – that’s 2015’s The Magic Whip album. This summer – July 21st to be specific – we will receive in its entirety: The Ballad of Darren. Today, we are teased by the album’s first release – “The Narcissist.” (clip)
  • Foo Fighters have shared another new song from their album But Here We Are, which is all out on June 2nd – couple weeks away. “Rescued” was the first release. “Under You” is the second release. (clip) Via Pitchfork I learned that the Foo Fighters have described this album as being a “brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year.” So far from what I’ve heard: I’m feeling and hearing their pain.
  • Mix it up here with a little Hip-Hop / Juice WRLD’s five year anniversary album of Goodbye & Good Riddance is out now. This special release includes two new tracks “Glo’d Up” and “No Good.” (clip) By the way, the late rapper’s friend – Lil Bibby has said, “The Last Juice WRLD Album is in the works. Let’s celebrate the life of Juice. No more mourning, I want everyone that Juice loved while he was here to help celebrate, especially his fans who he loved!” Hopefully coming out later this year.
  • (clip) The name of that song is “Only Love Can Save Us Now” but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to remove that plastic bag over your head either. That’s Kesha and her new album – Gag Order – is fully out today.
  • Other new music: Slipknot and Stone Sour lead singer: Corey Taylor has announced his 2nd full solo album by releasing its 1st single called “Beyond” /// Maroon 5 have unveiled a new single, “Middle Ground” which marks the band’s first release since 2021. /// And lastly, for their 10th album together, the Dave Matthews Band (clip) have released a 12-track album called: Walk Around the Moon. Several of these songs have been played in years past during their concerts, so although not officially released, some aren’t new to the true Dave diehards out there. I’m not going to compete with them. I’ve listened to the whole thing and truly dig it. One of the ones that jumped out to me with its groove was “Break Free” (clip)

Happy Friday! / Happy Mommy’s Day Weekend!

Listened to a lot of music today and it really took me awhile to get all going. Work issues. We’ve all got them in some shape or form. The trick is pushing through it all and smiling at the end. Music is always my way.

Morning Babble Wake-up Playlist – click here

“Six Days in June” by the Fratellis is song #1 and has been my rock. I could play it all day. I could keep going. Alright, I’ll stop. Maybe.

Anyway – find your music playlist!

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • First up – Chase B along with Travis Scott & additional company (all-star package) came out with the song “Ring Ring” today (clip) That’s a telephone booth. Most kids don’t know about that. What do they think it is when Superman changes? (Lego clip) / Thankfully, Lego has the toy to sort of help them understand (Lego clip) / Reminds me of the time my son, Elliott, was with me and in one of our company vehicles, we had “manual” window controllers.
  • (clip) To close out the ACM Awards, Dolly Parton “rocked” the country music awards show with that song – the newly released “World On Fire” which will be on her upcoming Rockstar album. That’s right, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dolly Parton will have a rock album that includes 30-track rock album, out Nov. 17, will feature nine original songs and 21 iconic rock covers. Features a star-studded roster including Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Elton John, Chris Stapleton, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and more. (bad math)
  • Another new song from Ay-ron Jones (clip) That’s called “The Title” – his upcoming second album Chronicles Of The Kid due out in June. Again, Ay-ron Jones. Unfortunately, I had been calling him: Aaron. Reminds me of that skit on the sketch comedy show: Key and Peele (clip) Ay-ron, Ay-ron (clip)
  • Couple quick hits here of new music:
  • Lyell had a song called “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” out a couple months ago. Today, she’s got another one out that I also like – it’s called “I can’t take it.” (clip)
  • Jonas Brother’s new album is out in its entirety today and called The Album. They really mulled over that one. New song being pushed is “Summer Baby” (clip)

Setting the clocks ahead to help with “on-time” / Exit Plan is happening?/ George Bernard Shaw quote

morning babble / Monday 05-08-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Back at it on Monday! Trying to get it into gear. Who still sets their microwave and oven clocks ahead a little bit in order to push yourself to get outa the house on time. We do.

The other day we had a power outage and my wife reset the times. She doesn’t push them ahead and my daughter realized. She begged me to “correct” it ahead because she claims that it helps them to get to school “on time.” Not too many appliances or clocks that you can purposely set ahead because of how everything autocorrects itself anymore.

Talking about setting up some goals and knocking them down – just for the week

BUT – I wanted to give an update on “Exit Plan” for myself.

June – setting up some challenges / Nothing too extreme, but I certainly know that when I state things out loud on here. I have a better chance at following through because I don’t need to be reminded by you all that I didn’t do it. Like Exit Plan.

Mad Love for Guardians of the Galaxy & a Groot quote / Congrats to RATM / and, of course, New Music Friday!

morning babble / Friday 05-05-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Happy Weekend, everyone . . . Happy Cinco de Mayo which is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico. BUT – in the United States, this day has evolved into a huge celebration of Mexican culture and heritage. Please know though . . . it’s a whole lot more than Chips & Salsa and a couple Coronas. Although, that always sounds tasty to me.

(clip) Rage Against the Machine were nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a total of five times and now – they are officially it. Well, they get inducted on Friday, November 3rd along with Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, the Spinners, and Willie Nelson. Congrats to one of my favorite bands – Rage Against the Machine.

(clip) Nothing wrong with 50. Hurt my back though getting out of the work vehicle. Pulled something in my neck when I was placing my laptop onto my desk. That’s what’s wrong with 50. Anyway, the Final Chapter for Guardians of the Galaxy is out. I’m probably not going to get there this weekend, but it’s definitely one that I want to see on the big screen with my family. I feel good about this one – previews look good. I’m confident that director James Gunn is wrap this up nicely. How confident? (clip) Ehhh . . . that’s pretty confident having them naked by the end of the song, but I’m confident. Looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 3

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • Big week for Ed Sheeran. Yeah, his new album (show card) is out, but he also had that “Thinking Out Loud” Copyright Trial in court thing going on. He won that. I enjoyed his statement outside of the courthouse: “I am, obviously, very happy with the outcome of this case, and it looks like I’m not having to retire from my day job.” So, yes – the other big thing is his final LP of a set of records named after mathematical symbols is out in its entirety today. Song being pushed along with a new video that will be released this weekend is “Curtains.” (clip)
  • If you’re a PG fan, you should know that with a new full moon, we get another song from Peter Gabriel. For the month of May, I believe Peter explains this new song best (clip). Now the song is called “Four Kinds of Horses” (clip)
  • Alex G was born in Havertown, PA and last year he played three hometown shows at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer. He has since announced a new vinyl-only live album called Live from Union Transfer. The 14-song release arrives June 30th, and will be limited to 3,500 vinyl-only copies (on tangerine wax)
  • Today, you also got new music from Lil Baby, DaBaby, The Lemon Twigs, and Megan Moroney – she grabbed my attention somehow at the top of Spotify had a picture of her, so I clicked on that. (clip) In that song, she’s singing about trading in her Georgia red for her lover’s Tennessee orange – that’s a big deal in that area. Anyway her album Lucky is out today.

morning babble / Monday 05-01-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Back at it on a Monday. I sent myself an email last night. I was feeling some depression or how I describe it at times – the downward spiral. It was happening.

I allow clients to invade my personal time too much. I’m accessible but I shouldn’t have to be that accessible. I care too much and it ends up hurting me. It’s my own fault and I realize that. I can’t allow this to keep happening.

It takes a lot to grab those reins and yank myself back up. But – here I am. Looking at Monday and so ready to kick its ass.

3-Day Fast Broke via Pizza / What’s on Travis Barker’s coffee table? / and Finally, New Music Friday!

morning babble / Friday 04-28-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Happy Friday, Saturday, Sunday – Happy Weekend! I’m in a good mood. I just finished up my 3-Day Fast recap / As a family we went to Pizza By Elizabeths – if you aren’t familiar with this restaurant, the concept is a fun one. Every pizza created is named after a famous Elizabeth. Mine last night was named “Montgomery” which is for the actress Elizabeth Montgomery (clip). Lots of meat on this pizza. I also had them add on some spicy sausage as well. Shook on some hot pepper flakes. I ate the whole thing. (clip) Feeling good though.

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • The National’s new album fully drops today – we get all the songs for First Two Pages of Frankenstein. This is an album that I need to get on vinyl, so I’ll be visiting my place Rainbow Records at some point in time soon – gotta save up again after Record Store Day. Anyway – this is an album that I describe as chill. I need to work on my adjectives more because I’ll say that a lot – this is chill. So, here’s what Pitchfork’s Brad Shoup, “With help from Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan (soohf-yaan) Stevens, the National return with their gentlest album yet: a collection of airy, tender gestures.” He’s got good adjectives in there. The song being pushed today on Spotify is “The Alcott” which is the one with Miss Taylor Swift. (clip)
  • Illenium has been releasing more and more music, so much so that I thought the album was already out. Nope – it’s actually today we get the whole sha-bang – 16 songs, nearly an hour of music and creatively titled Illenium. Saved the creativity part for the music (clip) that song is called “Eyes Wide Shut” and on vocals, it’s Avril Lavigne and on drums, it’s Blink’s banger – Travis Barker. Speaking of Travis, I do something a little creepy. Travis Barker recently posted this (clip) That’s Virgil Abloh’s book Icons – he’s an American fashioner designer or was . . . we lost him back in 2021. That’s a $75 book laying on Travis’ coffee table. But – it’s those pictures that help me explore what other people are looking at, reading, studying . . . it’s still creepy huh.
  • (Clip of Emmaline) – That’s “After You’ve Gone” via the sultry jazzed up singer Emmaline released a six song EP. She was just featured in her first film called Sweetwater. Her vocals were featured throughout the movie and, of course, is on the movie’s soundtrack. However, there were a bunch of unused songs that she put together on this EP called Songs from Sweetwater. The movie was set in 1950, so this is a collection of old jazz standards. Definitely check her out.
  • Since I listen and heart music from Emmaline, I believe that this is why this song appeared in my feed today with Spotify (clip) “That’s a plenty” and it’s off the Bing & Ella album – a duets album from Bing Crosby and Ella Fitzgerald. Eight songs on this album. One of my favorite channels on Sirius Radio is the 50’s Gold channel – I love that type of sound. A $5 buy at Rainbow Records got me this vinyl American Graffiti (clip) I’ve got a story to tell about that album. I’m going to save it for another day though – too much babbling today so far.
  • Other new music to mention: Coi Leray has a new single out called “Bops” (clip) That’s all I can play – my little girl watches these videos too much / Beach House released a 5-song EP called Become / and finally – Kesha gets producer Rick Rubin to help her with two new singles released today “Fine Line” and “Eat the Acid” (clip) Let her sing! Stop putting your hands in her mouth. Reminds me of The Edge in that video for U2’s song “Numb” (clip) Those were feet. I wouldn’t want feet on my face. All bunioned up ,smelly, ingrown toenails
