Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend – some celebrated Passover, others Easter, and others – it was the weekend. We had the bunny visit, so excess candy is in the house. I did have to make a run to my business’s workshop yesterday. At a light, I got beeped at and looked over. This older couple in a Mercedes were trying to say something to me. They didn’t look mad, but I still took a deep breath before putting the window down – I didn’t think I did anything wrong. And – I hadn’t. They wanted to know if there was a nearby Wegman’s. What? No – not really. I mean there is one about 20 minutes from here, but that’s on 202 heading towards PA. I then cut myself short and stressed no – not around here. Don’t they have a phone?

So, the other day, I mentioned Amelia Earhart because my journal – The Five-Minute Journal – had a quote from her. This triggered a story that I remembered my grandmother telling me. She was my Nana and my kids called her Super Nana, because you know – you couldn’t really go with Big Nana. Anyway, she worked for George Agnew Chamberlain who lived quite a life. Hunted with Teddy Roosevelt. Back to my Nana, she would go to his house with my uncle – who was a baby at the time in a basket – and then sit to take down what Mr. Chamberlain would spout out. The book that she worked on was The Lantern on the Plough – Published in 1925. Oh yeah – how does this all relate to Amelia Earhart. Well, she would visit Chamberlain on his property . . . by flying in. All in Bridgeton, NJ. A place that I always pick on when I have to visit for my job because they have no Starbucks and I lose any phone capability for the 3 to 4 hours while there.

The Kids in the Hall originally aired on Comedy Central and CBC in Canada from 1989 to 1995. I’m not going to say them all, but the original cast is back. Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels is attached to the new show as executive producer, A favorite by many – “Crush your Head” guy has to come back:

Loved Scott Thompson’s tweet the other day announcing the return for Season 6. “Sorry it took 27 years.” Coming May 13th to Prime Video – that’s Amazon.

New Music Friday:

  • Any song that is titled “Doritos & Fritos” better be good. The band that got their name from a spray paint job on a brick wall – 100 gecs – dropped this single today. It’s a fun song. This is actually their 2nd release from their upcoming album 10000 gecs. Unfortunately, no release date on the full album drop but it does appear to be soon. This one is actually a follow up to the duo’s 2019 debut, 1000 gecs
  • Yesterday, Lizzo unveiled a new single, “About Damn Time” – this is the first release from her upcoming album, Special – which is released in its entirety on July 15th.
  • Full album drop today from local Philly guy (for me at least) – Kurt Vile. We got a couple singles already, but the one being pushed today is “Flyin (like a fast train)”. The album is called (watch my moves) – which is parenthesis. The new album includes a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Wages of Sin.” Lots of guitar.
  • Revisiting the new album release from Father John Misty from last Friday. The album is called – Chloë and The Next 20th Century – and I’m truly loving it. I’ve listened to it just about every night in our house library. Just relaxing and chilling. I love the calming vibe that just pours over me as I listen. Love those types of albums where you’re like “Where did that come from?”

PODCAST TUESDAY!

Alright, so I didn’t want to keep going back to the well of GOATS . . . . but, David Chang does have another podcast. The one that is out twice weekly is called The Dave Chang Show. The other one is Recipe Club which includes Dave Chang and Chris Ying as the constant recipe makers from week to week. They are joined by a 3rd chef each week – they rotate in – Bryan Ford, Priya Krishna, Rachel Khong, and John deBary. For each week, they cook three recipes for one dish and then compare/battle it out in order to see which one is best. Again, it’s called Recipe Club and 2nd Season is underway. 1st episode is out today for Breakfast Sausage. I might be able to listen to it later.

Remember – 3 Day Fast is on! 6:42PM on Thursday – that’s when I can eat again!

New Music Friday:

  • Officially out on all streaming platforms – Fear of the Dawn – from Jack White. I have been enjoying it, but I am a Jack White fan. However, I have to admit that his album from 2018 – Boarding House Reach – not so much a fan. He was trying something entirely different in that one . . . and I didn’t really get it too much. He’s doing something different again, but I’m liking this one more. It’s still not the White Stripes sound but I hear the guitar at times that I want to hear and certain songs I’m already looking forward to hearing again. As stated yesterday, a favorite for me is “Morning, Noon and Night.”
  • Father John Misty’s new album – Chloë and The Next 20th Century – is all out today. I’ve discussed a couple releases already “Goodbye, Mr. Blue” and “Funny Girl”. The single being pushed now is “Kiss Me (I Loved You)”. Very relaxing sound to everything that I’ve heard. And – I’ve said it before, typically not something I would listen to . . . especially on a cranky day like yesterday, but maybe not such a bad idea to chill me out.
  • Earlier this week, Pusha T released a new song with Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams called “Neck & Wrist.” I wanted something more. It’s just “there” for me. I mean, Jay-Z – Pharrell – I wanted sneak peak of summer fun hit. Anyway, the new single, as well as February’s release “Diet Coke,” will be on the now named album – It’s Almost Dry from Pusha T. However, no release date as of yet.
  • A new Sinatra song popped up on my Spotify today. The song is “Watertown” and it’s a remixed song. Nothing has been announced, but this might mean that the entire album – also called Watertown – might be getting a reissue Originally from 1970, this is a concept album that tells a full-fledged story about a fictional town – Watertown. Its Old Blue Eyes giving a try at some rock-oriented pop music. I’ll take it. One of my favorite things to do every Sunday morning is pull up the show “Playing Favorites on Sinatra”. It’s a weekly show hosted by someone new each week – singers, actors, someone known – and they play their favorite songs from Sinatra. It’s on Siriusly Sinatra via SirusXM.
  • Oh yeah – FYI – the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album – Unlimited Love – thumbs up! It’s amazing what bringing back an old band member can do for the group – I’m talking about guitarist John Frusciante (froo shaa tay)
