Missing another Monkee / Skippy PB – you need it Dunkin / Christian Slater needs my current address

morning babble / Saturday 12-11-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Yesterday sadly, we lost a Monkee – Michael Nesmith – he was 78. Lost Davy Jones back in 2012 and Peter Tork a couple years ago in 2019. Only 1 Monkee left – Micky Dolenz – he is 76. Rest in Peace, Michael Nesmith.

Fun stuff – got Dunkin’ today. We got my favorite peanut butter in. Skippy Reduced Fat – don’t know why but I love the taste of the reduced fat. Got a Jelly Donut and lathered it in peanut butter.

I ran #345.

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – Didn’t you do the Reindeer Run?
  • Question #2 – Did getting those headshots get you anywhere?

New Music Friday: Our Lady Peace, Alicia Keys, Eve6 / Fasting Recap / 344th 5k run!

morning babble / Friday 12-10-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I used my videos to see what I wore last to these clients today. Didn’t want to do a repeat.

I ran #344 / Countdown to Three Sixty-Six continues!

3 Day Fast ended last night. That was a long day. I don’t ever want to end a fast at 7:11 at night. Tacos and Margaritas were the villains of the fast. I did have some of those holiday mint M&Ms. AND – I did something that I’ve been doing lately – got me a box of Butterscotch Krimpets.

Lots of countdowns coming up / Not too much new music

Pitchfork put out their Top 100 Songs. #1 was Caroline Polachek: “Bunny Is a Rider” / I did see Olivia Rodrigo at #10 with “Deja Vu” / Snail Mail at #8 with “Valentine” / and at #6 Tyler, the Creator: “Lumberjack”

Tour announcements – Oliva Rodrigo / Tame Impala / Foo Fighters / Eddie Vedder / Adele hanging out in Vegas for several months

New Music Friday:

  • Tame Impala announced their tour for next year and then dropped a single off of their upcoming The Slow Rush deluxe box set (Feb. 18th). The new song is “No Choice” which was a previously unreleased track. More of those coming on the deluxe box set.
  • Big album release today is Alicia Keys and her double album Keys. The album is split into two parts: the Originals half featuring self-produced songs with “laidback piano vibes” and the Unlocked half with some of the same tracks with “upbeat, drums and level up” songs. An hour and a half of tunage from Miss Alicia Keys.
  • Eve 6 released “Androgyne Friend” – enjoying their sound. They had an EP release – Grim Value – back in June. But – this is new. They are fun to follow on Twitter by the way. Poke fun everywhere including themselves. It’s good fun.
  • Our Lady Peace released a single “Holes” from their upcoming new album Spiritual Machines 2 (first one was back in 2000). Full album release is January 28th. BUT – I missed something with those one. It was already released as an NFT – 10,000 of them back in October. I have to dig into it.

Podcast learnings with Chase Jarvis and Tim Ferriss / #343 is my Don Mattingly run / 3 Day Fast ends tonight

morning babble / Thursday 12-09-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Heavy legs today on the treadmill, but I pushed through it #343 – for some reason, I always think of Don Mattingly with that number. He won the batting title back in 1984 with that batting average. Not a Yankees fan, but I did really enjoy Donnie Baseball aka Don Mattingly.

Countdown to Three Sixty-Six continues – getting closer!

Listening to Chase Jarvis’ podcast today and he had Dr. Amishi Jha on who was talking about meditation. She just came out with a new book Peak Mind – states that all you need are 12 minutes in the day. We do that already in the bathroom watching videos on our phone. Her simplified routine = Focus, Notice, Redirect / Repeat. FYI – if you don’t have it already, go get the Chase Jarvis book: Creative Calling.

Also, listened to the original Tim Ferriss talk at SXSW conference . . . this was like months before his 4 Hour Workweek book came out.

He was taking questions at the end and someone asked: How do I create extra time?

3x a day – Ask yourself

  1. Am I being productive? OR
  2. Am I being busy?

Think that’s it. Oh yeah. 3 Day Fast – ends tonight! See – you break past the 48 hour mark and you feel good. Brain Fog lifts! I still can’t wait for dinner. Gameplan as of right this instant – Tacos and Beer. And Mint M&Ms for dessert – holiday kind – can’t wait!

Who’s feeling it? Raise my hand. I have to admit though – it was worse last night. Amazing what sleep can do for misery. Makes it all go away. I’m still trying to not complain so much.

1st Day of the 3 Day Fast – it’s going to be a late one – 7:11pm on Thursday.

Enjoyed those M&Ms as the final close to my eating.

Working on a Holiday playlist on Spotify. I used to do that every year for the 2nd Christmas at my parent’s house. I think that ended the year I had Lady Gaga on the playlist with “Christmas Tree” – it’s a good one.

I ran! Imagine that. #341 of 5K runs. This morning. I felt achy coming out. I sit on the steps to put on my running shoes and it felt so good to sit . . . first thing in the morning. So close to the end here, don’t fail me now body. It’s like when you really have to go to the bathroom and then after that rush hour drive home . . . you’re only 10 feet away from the relief.

I’m at one of those cliche moments – where did the weekend go? Like seriously. Once again, I had a lot shtuff that I wanted to get done. Like emails – I’m over 400 emails in the inbox again. Gotta organize that thing. Different tier emails. The ones that I just don’t want to skip because I always find good nuggets of something within them.

I ran. #340 of the 5K runs for the year. Countdown to Three Sixty-Six (366) is on!

Talk about not breaking the chain – I talked about this on Day 2. Jerry Seinfeld.

Fasting tonight – again the 12th one of the year, which was one of the goals that I put out there for myself at the beginning of the year – monthly 3 Day Fasts.

Let’s not eat food together.

morning babble / Sunday 12-05-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

We have an Elf. His name is Durtle and he visited my area last night. There he is and he put up some blue lights. Thanks Durtle. He’s not creepy at all to me.

Speaking of creepy – Donald Duck ornament. Remember that SNL short from Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg? About the gift in the box? Click here for that memory.

Yesterday, I ran #338 on the mill and showed that quick story on Instagram. I don’t think I’ve really posted too many of them. Who wants to see my more Brent leg – silence from the crowd. Run #339 will be coming up on the mill, too.

Oh yeah – my last 3 Day Fast of the year begins tomorrow night after dinner. Anyone want to join in or give it a try – even 24 hours – I’m here.

Books on a Sunday! Or for today – just Book.

I have so many ideas flowing through me right now. Listening to so many different podcasts. Being the weekend, I’m doing the laundry, folding the clothes, this morning I cleaned up the mess in the kitchen – all while listening to podcasts.

New Music Friday! / How old was Brenda Lee? / A Ragin’ Lyric of the Day

morning babble / Friday 12-03-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I need me some Josh Groban to chill out.

Okay – let’s talk Brenda Lee – yeah, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” Brenda Lee. I like her voice. Raspy, sexy voice. Sing me that Dinyls song, Brenda! Wait – Did you know that Brenda Lee was 13 years old when she recorded “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”? AND – The song was written by Johnny Marks who, “despite being Jewish” (that was directly taken from an old article), wrote several hit Christmas songs besides that one (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Run Rudolph Run, A Holly Jolly Christmas, and more). Anyway, I still can’t believe that she was 13. Can’t ask her to sing that song from The Divinyls . . . nope. FYI – lead singer, Chrissy Amphlett – we lost her to breast cancer back in 2013. Meanwhile, Brenda Lee is still here with us – she’s 76.

I ran #337 – Countdown to Three sixty-six (366)

New Music Friday:

  • Last night, Sia released a cover of ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ as part of a collaboration with Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker. There’s a video! I’ve got the link here. Sia is another voice I love. I think I mentioned that I need her to say that she listens to Morning Babble.
  • Brent Favorite – Couple months ago, Band of Horses announced that they’re returning with a new album in 2022. On January 21st, we get Things Are Great. We got to hear “Crutch” on that announcement day. Today we get another single from them called “In Need of Repair.”
  • Another Favorite – Tom Morello from Rage. Today, we get “The Maze” which features Andrew McMahon. This is the fourth promoted single to from his album, The Atlas Underground Flood – which is also out today. 12 songs in all. Thank you, Tom.
  • Mike Shinoda, one of the vocalists from Linkin Park (miss you Chester) dropped a new song by the name of “Ziggurats” today. The song is part of a hybrid music + art NFT release. There will be 5000 unique NFTs, with different art and different music (but same vocals).
  • There’s this “First Listen” 2-minute compilation on Spotify that showed up on my feed today. I think it’s new music from Michael Buble. I do know that a couple weeks ago, he reissued a deluxe version of Christmas — and it includes seven new tracks including “The Christmas Sweater,” a “Winter Wonderland” duet with Rod Stewart and a new version of “Let It Snow!” with the BBC’s Big Band Orchestra. Anyway – this other new music, maybe we’ll find out more during the Michael Bublé’s Christmas in the City will air on Dec. 6 from 10-11 p.m. on NBC.
  • HOLIDAY MUSIC – The Talbott Brothers released their version of “O Holy Night” – very well done. I talked about these guys earlier in the year with their cover of the Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark.” However, they got their own stuff – check out their newest release “Open Sky.”

Coffee Jitters! Gotta bring back the Mud! / Happy B-day Jacob! / Tom Bilyeu quote

morning babble / Thursday 12-02-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

So, I had coffee yesterday. I decided to do what I typically do with the amount of java. BUT – that tally was from over a month ago. AND – I got the jitters after two travel mugs. Only 1 today. The other is my MUD. I also got afternoon coffee from Dunkin, but got a large instead of my October coffee runs of XL. Oh – I put up an Instagram story yesterday morning of me doing a pour-over and there was an R2D2 bearing a Santa Hat in the background. Actually, I think it was in the background of the picture I posted with the coffee bags. R2D2 – show you on Saturday.

Sad news – No Reindeer Run for us this year. We procrastinated and sign-ups are closed. Whoops. Instead we’ll be digging into our red & green Rubbermaids and finally putting up that monster of a deco layout “Christmas in the City.”

Advent Calendars quickly looked at.

Happy Birthday to my nephew, Jacob. I think he’s 16 and can drive now – that’s how long it feels like it has been between seeing the little guy. Happy 7th!

I ran #336. Countdown to 366!

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

When he starts talking – I get hyped but I also look around to make sure my kids can’t hear.
