Borrowing words from someone else in an attempt to spread happiness everywhere or at the very least – a reasonable range. Hey – go click that video!
“Glory Days” cut
That’s probably my favorite Bruce Springsteen song of all time. Love the song, Love the video. On this date, 40 years ago – that’s 1984 – Bruce Springsteen released the album – Born in the USA.
“Born in the USA” cut
So, today’s quote of the day, I think you know who it’s coming from. That’s right – Phil Collins. I’m kidding.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “It’s not the time in your life, it’s the life in your time.” – by Bruce Springsteen
For all you quote geeks (like me) – I realize that Abe Lincoln said something along these same lines. I just like the way The Boss did it.
Sometimes, it gets tidied up; other times, not so much.
When all else fails: there’s video!
(“Pumped Up Kicks” Clip)
That is such a good song – “Pumped Up Kicks” from Foster the People. Back in 2010, lead guy Mark Foster wrote & released that song as a free download, while he was working as a commercial jingle writer. The band had a new song come out on Friday that I missed.
(Missed Music Monday opener)
Paradise State of Mind is scheduled for release this summer on August 16th. To give us an early taste of what the band is doing, they released the disco-sounding “Lost In Space.”
(“Lost in Space” Clip)
Foster the People – I should have seen this one on Friday, but did not and that is why we have this Missed Music Monday. See you tomorrow for Quote of the Day!
Please subscribe on YouTube and spread the Babble wherever you can – Thank you!

(“Sail” – AWOLNATION)
That’s the Diamond Certified single from AWOLNATION called ‘Sail’.
What’s Diamond Certified? Selling over 10 million units. That’s a lot.
(“Sail” – AWOLNATION)
Morning Babble Opener
Happy Weekend – it’s officially summer, right? Actually, June 20th is when it’s really, really here. In the meantime, we tease ourselves that this beautiful weather is summer and will be enjoying it for the following 3 months. Unfortunately, by August, I’m like this kid in the backseat. (clip) Love that kid. That’s all of August and a good part of September. Nobody likes it that hot. Normally, I have to take a shower after going out and getting the mail – it’s unfortunate. (Sweaty Balls). Unfortunately – I think there is a lot of resisting. Nobody likes to be sweating . . . there. We should do something about music, am I right?

New Music Friday:
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
At the end of March, AWOLNATION gave us the first taste of a new album to come with the song: “Panoramic View” (clip) We talked about. We liked the sound, but we didn’t have any other info. Today though, we get the announcement of the band’s fifth album: The Phantom Five. And – we also get a new song (clip) That’s “Jump. Sit. Stand. March.” from Aaron Bruno – who basically is AWOLNATION – gets some help in that song from Dead Sara’s Emily Armstrong. I know someone out there is concerned about Sara being dead. That’s a band – Dead Sara. Anyway, back to AWOLNATION – that new album arrives on August 30th . . . to help close out the summer. You know, the sweaty part of summer.
(“Without Me” clip) 51-year-old rapper – Eminem – 51, huh. That’ my age. He’s a little more advanced than me in his successes. (Hold up the subscribe card – You can do it!) Eminem has released a single and music video for the song “Houdini” (clip) The video has cameos from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Pete Davidson as Em is remincising about some of his most iconic moments in video. (another clip) One last note – the album is most likely to be called: The Death of Slim Shady. Unfortunately, we don’t have an official release date. Fortunately, the rumor is that it should land this summer.
(“Spaghetti” cut) That song is off of Beyonce’s powerhouse album – Cowboy Carter. Helping out on that “Spaghetti” song (that’s the name) is Shaboozey (clip) Annnnnd – Shaboozey has an album of his own out now called Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going – throw rock, hip-hop, and country into a blender and you’ve got this album (clip) Just released in April – That’s “A Bar Song” (Tipsy) which was a huge hit. Today on Spotifiy, the newest tune being pushed has the help of Miley’s younger sister, Noah Cyrus. The song is called “My Fault” (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: I talked about this before – Wilco has a six song EP arriving at the end of June . . . we were hoping for a new song from it but we now must patiently await its arrival /// Via Pitchfork, I learned: Beastie Boys’ classic 1994 album, Ill Communication, is getting a special deluxe edition reissue on vinyl to celebrate its 30th anniversary. 30 year anniversary – I was 21. Holy old. /// A band that I follow and like is bby. They have a new song out. It’s got a bad word in it. It’s “Messed Up” – go listen on the Spotify playlist /// And lastly, Snoop Dogg (clip) he has a Cali To Canada Tour beginning on June 3rd. To go along with it now, he teamed up with Warren G for a song called “Cali 2 Canada” (clip)
Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Spill Magazine, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
Be sure to check out the playlist on Spotify. As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from Nick Cave, Royel Otis, James Blake, and anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “Never let your fear decide your fate.” – by Aaron Bruno
AND
“The older I get, the more I realize that you don’t have to be around people you don’t want to be around, and you don’t have to be in a situation you don’t want to be in. You have the power to rise up and leave.” – by Aaron Bruno
Sometimes, it gets tidied up; other times, not so much.
When all else fails: there’s video!
(Garfield Movie clip)
That was pretty much me last night when I covered my pasta with cheese
(food clip)
That’s what broke my 3-Day Fast along with some red wine and dark chocolate
(That’s Amore)
New Music Friday opener
Happy Weekend / Happy Memorial Day Weekend! The official kickoff to summer. AND – As prescribed by the government, all radio stations have countdowns this long holiday weekend, lik The Memorial Day 500 (sound effect) That’s a lot of songs, but not in a row of course, there’s commercials. Unless you go that SirusXM – love that thing. Also, this weekend that Garfield movie is out. By the way, That’s Amore – part of the Garfield soundtrack (clip) I’ll have a link at my website.
Why do I know that The Garfield Movie is out? Well, driving around the other day during my 3-Day Fast, I saw billboard of Garfield. Was I drawn to the cat? No. I saw it along side a promotion for the Tastykakes Cat Nap Cupcakes (pix) During a 3-Day Fast, it’s amazing how the sight or even thought of food makes one drool. I had to remove this from my area in fear of . . .

New Music Friday:
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
13 Songs, 47 minutes of tunage – the album is called Clancy from Twenty-One Pilots. (“Overcompensate” cut) – That’s “Overcompensate”, which we’ve been enjoying since it’s arrival back in February . . . on the 29th. Barely February. But today, we do receive all and so far I’m enjoying everything that I’m hearing – beginning to end.
(Clip of “Eyes Closed”) Now that one is Imagine Dragons and “Eyes Closed” – a song that they releasd a couple weeks ago. The first one of nine songs that will be appearing on their upcoming album – Loom – which fully drops on June 28th. Today though, we get song #2. I found myself dancing to this one. And if anybody knows me, I don’t dance well. I don’t – it’s not in me. I try. Anyway, the song that even made Brent dance – here’s “Nice To Meet You” (clip)
Vince Staples has released his final album on Def Jam Recordings – it’s titled: Dark Times. (picture of album cover) That’s the album cover – I like that. I also like the dark, somber sound I’m hearing throughout the album – a very chill musical ride. (“Shame on the Devil” clip) That song is called “Shame on the Devil” which was our album tease as it was released earlier this week. But now – we do have it all – I count 13 songs to sit back and enjoy. Also, for some more Vince Staples – he does have a Netflix comedy series creatively titled, “The Vince Staples Show” It’s a five-episode show that was released back in February and stars Staples as a (Pitchfork quote) “semi-fictionalized version of himself as he navigates life.” Again – Vince Staples. (sounder)
Several quick hits of new music: Oasis are reissuing a 30th year anniversary of their debut studio album, Definitely Maybe. I guess this is something to add to their 20th anniversary, which was obviously released 10 years.. As they keep reissuing older material, the Gallagher brothers refuse to reunite Oasis – come on bros, just kiss & make up and don’t be so greedy // A couple weeks ago, Gunna came out with a new album called One of Wun – I probably should have talked about it on New Music Friday and since I missed it – Missed Music Monday, but I didn’t. So, here it is. What caught my eye and ear – was the song that included Leon Bridges called “Clear My Rain.” Don’t just go and listen to that one though – be sure to check out the entire album. // The The are back with their first album since 2000. it’s called Ensoulment. // The band – DIIV – has a new album out called: Frog in Boiling Water – there’s a visual for everyone. Don’t worry, I won’t show a video of that. They’re are some out there. Anyway – here’s the band performing from the album – “Brown Paper Bag” (clip)
The way the band was up there, I envisioned Weezer for some reason and was ready for them to break out into some sort of upbeat sound (clip). It didn’t happen, but that’s okay, I’m still looking forward to listening to the rest of “Frog in Boing Water” (clip)
I’ll put a link to that clip on my website . . . in the meantime:
Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Spill Magazine, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
Be sure to check out the playlist on Spotify. As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from Andrew Bird – who has a new album out, Zach Bryan (yeah the country guy – Pink Skies – I listened), and yet another Fuller song – that dude is a machine! Plus, anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “It’s amazing what one can accomplish when one doesn’t know what one can’t do.” – by Jim Davis (the Garfield cartoonist)
