ska-punk was crashing the alt-rock radio party

and Reel Big Fish had a hit song about selling out.

Ska purists were accusing bands of going too mainstream.

So Reel Big Fish wrote a sarcastic song about it:

“Sell Out.”

And then… the joke became real.

Their label pushed “Sell Out” to radio and MTV…

so Reel Big Fish broke through with a song mocking

the same machine promoting it.

That’s not selling out.

That’s selling out with a horn section.
