Movies That Matter / 10-16-26
(Movies That Matter Intro)
Welcome to Movies That Matter, where we look at three movies worth knowing about before the weekend begins.
Street Fighter is heading back to the big screen, one diver somehow ends up inside a whale, and Jane Austen is getting another turn at the movies.
(Countdown Video)
What’s new? Well… it’s time to travel back to 1993 with Street Fighter.
(Street Fighter clip – Round 1)
Street Fighter brings Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li back for another World Warrior Tournament – you’ll get to see Jason Momoa, 50 Cent and Roman Reigns joining the fight.
Seems like everybody wanted in on this one.
(Street Fighter clip – Who did that to your face)
And if getting punched in the face sounds uncomfortable…
How about getting swallowed by a whale.
(Whalefall clip – Whale swalling him)
Austin Abrams stars in Whalefall as a diver who gets swallowed by a ginormous sperm whale – with only one hour of oxygen to get back out.
As someone who’s claustrophobic… you’re on your own with this one.
(Whalefall clip – “You don’t listen to me”)
And finally, something a little more civilized.
(Sense and Sensibility clip “Man who loves me”)
Sense and Sensibility gives Jane Austen a fresh spin for a new generation.
After fighting tournaments and whale stomachs… a little romance sounds wonderful.
(Sense and Sensibility clip – “What makes you happy” with Olivia Dean music)
Did you hear that song in the background – “Man I Need” from Olivia Dean – that alone makes this movie a win for me.
That’s this weekend’s Movies That Matter. From Street Fighter tournaments to the inside of a whale to a little Jane Austen romance, there should be something waiting for you at the movies.
Until next time – keep on popping the corn.
