MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1 — “Dance into the Light”)

Released on this day in 1996…

Phil Collins gave us number 6 for solo albums…

Dance into the Light.

And with it… a throwback to something familiar.

(Music Cut #2 — “In the Air Tonight” — iconic drum fill)

Real drums.

Phil decided to ditch drum machines completely.

And the reason why… might surprise you.

Especially for the former Genesis drummer!

(Music Cut #3 – Land of Confusion cut)

He said he was starting to forget…

how to play the drums!

After breaking his wrist on tour…

he wanted to challenge himself.

So, no drum machines on this album!
