MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1 — “Paranoid”)

On this day in 1998…

the original Black Sabbath lineup…

with Ozzy Osbourne…

performed “Paranoid” on Late Show with David Letterman.

(Music Cut #2 — “Paranoid”)

Back in 1970…

Black Sabbath had finished recording their second album…

when they realized they needed one more song.

So guitarist Tony Iommi…

who, by the way, just released a solo album last week…

came up with a riff!

(Music Cut #3 — “Paranoid”)

And how long did it take the band…

to write “Paranoid”?

LESS THAN THIRTY MINUTES!

(Music Cut #4 — “Paranoid”)

LYRIC OF THE DAY:
“The things in life that I can’t find
I can’t see the things that make true happiness
I must be blind.” – Black Sabbath, “Paranoid”
