MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”
(Music Cut #1 – “My Iron Lung”)
By late October of 1994…
Radiohead’s “My Iron Lung” had made its way onto the UK charts.
This particular track was inspired by a song the band was pretty cooked on.
(Music Cut #2 — “Creep”)
Yep, “Creep.”
It might have made Radiohead famous…
but the band was tired of being known for just ONE song.
(Music Cut #3 — “My Iron Lung”)
So Thom Yorke wrote “My Iron Lung”…
comparing “Creep” to an iron lung.
Something that kept the band alive…
but also kept them trapped
(Music Cut #4 – “My Iron Lung”)
LYRIC OF THE DAY:
“Suck, suck your teenage thumb
Toilet-trained and dumb
When the power runs out
We’ll just hum.” – Radiohead “My Iron Lung”
