Welcome to AMA Wednesday –

Via Tracy, “Do you really like Donald Duck or something?”

We’ll actually go back to 2021 Brent when I mentioned how I favored the duck

Babble clip

I have many Donald things – watches, mugs, clothing, pictures, books, keychains.

BUT – I recently learned about another duck. Sort of looks like Donald Duck, but is in no way shape or form him. My coworker Rafer told me about this movie years ago and eventually gave me a DVD of it. Sadly, we don’t have a DVD player in the house that could play this copy. BUT – I found it on YouTube.

First Video

Ironically enough, during my wife’s birthday weekend, they had on this oldies music channel and “The Turtles” came on. I’ve heard of them, kind of. Two of the founding members of the musical group “The Turtles” do the music in this movie. Mark “Flo” Volman and Howard “Eddie” Kaylan are founding members of the musical group “The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie.”

Music Video

This movie is not politically correct. Racist / Sexist / but funny as hell. It’s like Donald Duck starring in Blazing Saddles. You know you shouldn’t be laughing, but whew . . . does it feel oh so good!

Final shot

PODCAST TUESDAY!

I’m highlighting one of my GOATS – that’s why they hold that position. Chase Jarvis recently had a podcast out about why he doesn’t set resolutions and what he does instead. He creates a more/less list. Read more / Write more / Drink less / Stress less

Sort of plays into what I was talking about yesterday with setting attainable goals. Lower the bar, hit that goal, and then propel yourself along to the next one.

Yes – we are all tired. Yes, we all lost an hour. Hello Monday – let’s get on with it!

GOAL SETTING MONDAY & REVIEW –

Accomplishments –

I had a couple accomplishments this week. So, I did start up a new goal list.

Week ahead –

Ali Abdaal – he’s struggling to make time to work on his book. So much so that he got himself an accountability coach. Every single time he meets with his coach: it is stated that when it comes to getting important (but non-urgent) tasks done, lower the bar. That is so true. Eh – I’ll just do a mile on the treadmill – 5k later. YES – I did it. He then asks what are you struggling to make time for? What if you just put 1/3 of the ‘ideal’ time in? What would happen then? Stuff would get done huh. Go lower the bar. Set some easy goals to hit in order to get that ball rolling. Check out Ali Abdaal – click here.

Salsa Shark and Beer broke the Fast / New Music Friday: Black Keys, Ben Rector, & More / Kobe Bryant quote

morning babble / Friday 03-11-22

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Salsa Shark and a beer from the 2SP Brewing Company broke the fast.

Reached out that maybe the bad days were due to the Fast – NOPE. I really haven’t totally experienced a grumpiness that I get from let’s some people who haven’t had their lunch yet or eaten all day. “Soft” what was that?

Small goals – made me feel good to accomplish this. Not just about the body’s health, but the mind as well.

New Music Friday:

  • The Black Keys have a new album on the way – May 13th is the full arrival of their 11th record named Dropout Boogie. The first tease of the album is out today with the released single “Wild Child.” Here’s a band that had that huge album back in 2010 (called Brothers) with a ton of hits on it. If you go deep on these guys, tons of good stuff. Love when these things happen. Bummed that I never found them earlier, but when you get that one incredible album and then go back only to find . . . like 5 more albums to listen to!
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers got a new album coming out in less than a month – 1st one in six years. Last month, we got “Black Summer” and I wanted a little more. But today, we get “Poster Child,” the second single from Unlimited Love. It’s a little more, but definitely getting a relaxed vibe from the album so far. Full album on April 1st.
  • Avril Lavigne’s Love Sux album came out a couple weeks ago. But today, I heard another single off of it called “Break of a Heartache.” I really enjoyed the sound – made me want to just MOVE. Again, full album has been out and it’s her first one since 2019. Obviously, having this song sneak up on me, I need to go back and listen to all again.
  • Got another chill song from Father John Misty – it’s called “Goodbye, Mr. Blue”. It’s the 2nd release off his upcoming album Chloë and The Next 20th Century – full album on April 8th. This is a guy that I never got into too much before. But – I have found myself travelling back and trying out his past albums.
  • Michael Buble has another new single out from his album Higher which is set to be released on March 25th. The song is called “Higher.” This 11th studio album is a mix of classic songs and original tunes. Covers of Barry White, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, and Paul McCartney. Again, full album of Higher on March 25th, but the single “Higher” – today.
  • Ben Rector – just listened to him the other morning to help pull me out of my downward spiral – no joke, he is always a go-to for me. Today, we get his 4th released album called, The Joy of Music. 13 tracks and the one I immediately went today was “Sunday” which features Snoop Dogg. Funny one – singing about Chick-fil-A being closed on Sunday. Looking forward to hear the whole album later.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!

Day 3 of the 3 Day Fast – 5:01pm – I get to eat. Not sure what dinner is. Originally, it was Cheese Quesadillas that my daughter was going to make . . . but now, she has a sleepover and will not be here. Back to the drawing board on that one.

297 days until EXIT PLAN

Shifted gears last night – I read comics.

Love the Batman / Not sure about the 3-hour movie that’s out right now.

Finished the Batman Reptilian series from Garth Ennis. Be sure to support your local comic book store – I go to Captain Blue Hen Comics in Newark, DE.

Oh, yes – and Meatless March obviously continues too. I didn’t highlight it the past two days or didn’t say it yesterday. A couple people were concerned. I’m fasting – nothing is happening on the food front.

It’s on! 3 Day Fast. Started early too. 5:01pm. I finished up my breakfast at that point of the day. Yup – what I packed for breakfast is what I ate. A chocolate chip muffin with peanut butter – a lot of PB.

PODCAST TUESDAY!

So, let’s talk about books. What? Well, I had some podcasts that I wanted to hear but they were already “dated” because of the weekend and recent changes in the news. And then, the way the day unfolded yesterday, I was turning to a lot of my happy music – INXS, the Fratellis, Soup Dragons. No Godsmack yesterday that would have been very negative.

Anyway, I got home and later at night found myself starting up this book. Several weeks ago, I talked about this podcast interview on the Tim Ferriss show. I wasn’t going to listen because I really didn’t know much about the guy. AND – at the time, I had never seen his show, The Good Place. But – I did listen and so thankful that I did. I actually purchased his book later that night but then it simply sat next to me in the house library. Currently, I have a book that I’m trying to push through and have found myself slowing down with my reading. This book though – changed that. I can’t wait to get home later tonight and dig into this again. Putting smiles on my face. Need that right now. How to be Perfect.

Survived the Birthday Weekend of my Wife. More Birthdays to come though. Mine is later this month on the 27th. Meatless March continues for now. Do I notice anything happening? Not really. I do feel hungry more and gassy. Before I get people anxious about me picking on the diet though, I realize that it’s just the transition period . . . right? I mean read The Carnivore Code and that transition sounds horrible.

At Dunkin, I had to stress “No Bacon” for the first time EVER!

Friday! Soooooooooooooo need it. I’m nearly out of NICE. Meter is on low. Need a gas station for more NICE soon.

303 days until EXIT PLAN

Meatless March continues / Birthday Weekend for my wife / Eclipse Bistro on Saturday – checked the menu. I already see my appetizer and entree – I’ll post it. / Her Mom’s on Sunday – if those bacon wrapped scallops are there, I’m going to have to sit outside on the driveway. Around the holidays, we’ll have them. I can knock out like 9. Don’t want to double digit that stuff – that’s just being a glutton. 9.

New Music Friday:

  • In a couple weeks (March 25th to be specific), Machine Gun Kelly will deliver his second “rock” album which is called Mainstream Sellout. It’s actually his 6th overall album, but the first 4 albums were hip-hop. So, the transition from rapper to rocker continues, but for today’s release song “Ay”, MGK teams up with Lil Wayne for the song assist. I poke fun, but the songs get into your head.
  • Jack White – we got another single off the 1st of his upcoming album releases for 2022. On April 8th, we get Fear of the Dawn and then on July 22nd, we get Entering Heaven Alive. Back to today’s single release, it’s the 2nd collaboration between Jack White and Q-Tip. The song is “Hi-De-Ho” and a sample is used from Cab Calloway’s song “Hi-De-Ho Man.” Both White and Q-Tip scat over this crazy drum beat with saxophone samples going off.
  • Full album drop today from one of my favorite bands to chill to in our house library via vinyl, but also to rock out to live – Band of Horses. Their 6th album Things Are Great is out today. The single being pushed is “Warning Signs”. I’m just excited to listen to the whole album straight through later today.
  • Ed Sheeran was asked to sing with Camila Cabello on her new single “Bam Bam”. Oh darn – okay. Do a video too? If I must. The clips that I saw – it’s a party of a video and a good time – Click here for the video. This single is off of Cabello’s third album Familia which comes out April 8th.

Small wins are important! / Ouch! – I got cut during Meatless March dinner / Quote from Ryan Holiday

morning babble / Thursday 03-03-22

FRIDAY EVE!

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Small wins! I ran. It was easier when I ran every day. The battle that my mind was giving me today. “Why run? You didn’t run yesterday. So why today?” I pushed through it. Small wins can feel like the biggest ones of the day. AND – they pretty much are because they help kickstart you along for the rest of the way.

304 days until EXIT PLAN

It was less than 5 minutes in and I cut myself. Took a little bit to stop the bleeding, too. I think my wife thought I was trying to make the call to the bullpen, too. Nope. I pushed through and made the meal. On Instagram, I showed those pictures of the meal (Greg’s recipe – Sweet Potato Black Been Quesadillas) that I made last night.  I’ll keep trying to do those along the way.

Back to the cut though – I have 6 saltwater tank cleanings ahead today – not going to feel good. / Not feeling like a hockey player
