Fasting begins / Happy Bday Rachel / Podcast Tuesday via Questlove Supreme

morning babble / Tuesday 02-08-22

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Couple quick things:

Day 1 of the 3 Day Fast / 5:59PM it started

327 days until EXIT PLAN

Rachel Birthday

Podcast Tuesday – Yes, I listened to another Dave Chang podcast today. Ooo – which by the way, he’s doing a challenge for a month – no sugar, no alcohol. I don’t wanna do that, BUT – I am thinking about moving some stuff up. Something for March, Writing goal for April, Something for May.

BUT – my friend, Cecil, reached out about Will Smith being on Questlove Supreme – click here for the podcast. Great episode. Lots of Philly love throughout it. Will talks about getting up every day at 4am and for 2 hours – that’s HIS time. Also, stresses the power of seeing a sunrise. They were discussing his new book – Will – so much so, that I downloaded it via Audible and I’m already 4 chapters in. It’s great!

Tin Man music in my head / New Music Friday – Dre, Korn, MGK / Chris Cornell book

morning babble / Friday 02-04-22

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

3 Day Fast begins this Monday night – AFTER dinner

331 days until EXIT PLAN

Finished one of my 5 goals for the week – wrapped up reading Corbin Reiff’s book called: Total F*cking Godhead: The Biography of Chris Cornell

My son is the Tin Man in his school’s production of “The Wizard of Oz” – lots of Tin Man Music going on in this household.

New Music Friday:

  • Buddy of mine (Bob) and business partner – texted me the other day how he just heard Red Hot Chili Peppers on the Oldies station in Philly. It was “Under the Bridge” – so, I looked it up. That song was released on March 10, 1992 – basically 30 years ago. In 1992, any song from 1962 . . . was on the Oldies station in any city in America. Old. Anyway – new album from the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be here in April – Unlimited Love. We’ll get 17 tracks. Also, this album has Rick Rubin as the producer AND it marks the band’s first release with the guitarist John Frusciante since 2006 – back with all the really, really good albums. But today, we do get the first single released, it’s “Black Summer.” I’m enjoying it. Still hoping for a Sir Pyscho Sexy or Suck My Kiss song, but I’ll take it.
  • Dr. Dre has released a 6 song EP – all featured in Grand Theft Auto: The Contract. GTA – Vice City – that was my game. It would be 3am before I knew it and then it was like “who needs sleep” – one more game. We were hearing some of these songs because of the game, but now they are out on the streaming services. I was listening to “Gospel” which features Eminem. By the way, I know you have seen that Super Bowl Halftime Line-up, right: Dre will be joined by Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. By the way, talking about being heard on an Oldies radio station. Dr. Dre’s album Chronic was released back in 1992 – that’s 30 years. Who’s putting Dre on an Oldies station?
  • Full album drop today from Korn – Requiem is out. All 9? songs – that’s so close to being just an EP. 32 minutes worth of new music. I’m still game. Recent single that they are pushing is called “Lost in the Grandeur”. FYI – Their debut album, Korn, was released in 1994. – 28 years old.
  • Megan Fox’s fiancé (Machine Gun Kelly) and Will Smith’s daughter (Willow) released a new song today – it’s called “Emo Girl”. It could easily have been performed by Blink 182 back on the Warped Tour (that was the early 2000s). Anyway – it is a good song. Nice hook, good beat. Gets in your head. The 6th studio album from Machine Gun Kelly Mainstream Sellout, comes out in its entirety on March 25th.

Friday Eve – I was so ready for this one.

332 days until EXIT PLAN

People reached out to me and asked why I didn’t talk about the groundhog yesterday. He saw his shadow. Doesn’t he always? It could be thunderstorm of weather all day and they would be like “He saw his shadow. 6 more weeks of winter.” But then, it was also 2/2/22 yesterday – all 2’s. I think the bigger 2 Day is Tuesday, February 22nd, but we’ll save it for that day. But the other one that made me giggle about not acknowledging is that it’s officially “Daveruary”

It’s Winds-day said the Pooh bear / Got a Charcuterie Board! / Jim Rohn quote

morning babble / Wednesday 02-02-22

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

“It’s Winds-Day” said Pooh Bear to Piglet. Remember that? It was a windy on a Wednesday. Winnie the Pooh told a funny. Lethargic – good word on how I’m feeling. Trying to crank it up. Listening to my music. Trying to envision a good day ahead.

I’ve got some podcasts lined up. Also, there’s a new book to listen to: I think I’m rolling with Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up. I’ve got a couple options, but that one might win out.

I caught an Instagram post from James Clear: It was actually his Monday Morning Question, but it didn’t pop up to me until yesterday afternoon. Anyway, he writes:

What are the 1-2 things that if you get them done today, you’ll go to bed content?

I listed under the “what would make today great” – a sense of accomplishment

Charcuterie Board – Thank you, Toni – Greatly appreciated and greatly enjoyed!

Two Music Battles: Spotify and Swifties / New Music Friday: Kanye & the It’s Raining Tacos’ Guy

morning babble / Friday 01-28-22

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

338 days until EXIT PLAN

Musical battles going on in the news –

  1. Spotify – Joe Rogan vs. Neil Young / Uncomfortable weighing in on this one because it just gets way too political. BUT – all I’m saying, I love the ‘Godfather of Grunge’.
  2. Taylor Swift vs. Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) He did apologize to Swift after saying she “doesn’t write her own songs” in a recent interview. He claimed it was taken out of context and used as clickbait.

New Music Friday:

  • Kanye West announced via his Instagram that Donda 2 is coming out next month. This new album will be executive produced by Future and apparently released on February 22nd. Off of that album is a new single with The Game – it’s called “Eazy”. Kanye mad. That Pete Davidson line – I’m with Charlamagne (shar la maine) Tha God on this one. corny as hell,” he said. “I didn’t like it. What happened to Jesus? What happened to God? You weren’t even cursing on your records and now all of a sudden you wanna beat up Pete Davidson?”
  • Michael Buble has a new single out – ‘I’ll Never Not Love You’ which is off of his 11th studio album called Higher and that is out on March 25th. It’s a mix of classic songs and original tunes. Covers of Barry White, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, and Paul McCartney
  • Our Lady Peace released another single called “Run” but more importantly, the whole album dropped today – Spiritual Machines 2 (first one was back in 2000). Back in October, this was released as an NFT – 10,000 of them. Around Christmas, there was another drop and I missed that one, too. Anyway – all platforms have the album today to be heard.
  • New eels music! We’ve gotten several of the singles already from this album and today, the song “Strawberries and Popcorn” is being pushed. Funny song – eating that for dinner, huh. But today, we get the full album – Extreme Witchcraft. A nice bluesy sound for the 14th album out of this band.
  • Lastly, if you got kids, you’ve probably heard that song out of their mouths – “It’s Raining Tacos” – by the way, that song is nearly 10 years old. Anyway, the guy who did that song – Parry Grip – he just released “Eat A Pancake”. Clocks in at 1:03, but that’s all you need to get it stuck. You’ve been warned.

Working on my smaller goals thought / Went back to an old faithful – Field Notes

Matt Ragland (Connect the Dots podcast) broke down his big annual goal into 4 quarters – every 12 weeks.  broke it down even further into 4 to 6 week sprints.  Macro – year / micro – 4 week sprints / He also stresses to set goals that you can control – example of how many subscribers vs. how many videos to post.

Ryan Holiday via his Daily Stoic podcast – It’s okay to stumble – letting good intentions slide a bit – that’s okay.  Just keep getting back at it.  There’s Oprah advice:

Call to the bullpen! AND – Run The Jewels with the save! / Happy Birthday, big brother! / James Clear quote

morning babble / Wednesday 01-26-22

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

Trouble running on the mill today. I should say “finishing” on the mill. On Saturday, I had to cut short my 5K run because we had to leave sooner than I thought for our evening. So – I only did like 20 minutes of running. Today, flashes of that went through my head. “Hey – I could cut this short.” No – I want to do a 5K. “But I don’t have to, do I?” It was a little battle going on in my head. Last year’s goal of 5K every day made it an unthinkable act of cutting a run short. After doing that for a full year, I never imagined NOT doing a 5K when I’m running . . . until this past Saturday. Today, I almost did it again. I called in to the bullpen and played some Run the Jewels.

340 days until EXIT PLAN

The 26th – couple things about today.

  1. It’s officially over a month since Christmas – take down the tree.
  2. Happy Birthday to my big brother Keith. Back in high school, when I played baseball, I always kept a newspaper clipping of him in my back pocket of the uniform. It inspired me. It helped push me harder. I wanted to be just as good as he was in baseball. He batted left though and being a righty, I was just never going to be that cool.
