This is the scribble that leads to the babble.

Sometimes, it gets tidied up; other times, not so much.

When all else fails: there’s video!

Here’s an oldie but goodie debate – who do you like more – Oasis: (beginning bars of “Wonderwall”)

or Blur (begin bars of “Song 2”)

Again, it’s Oasis (clip) or Blur (clip) Let the debating commence!

(Morning Babble Intro)

Happy Labor Weekend – go squeeze out all the summer you can. I’m just gonna sit here and enjoy my Pumnkin Ale from Dogfish Head.

(“Live Forever” cut)

Big news in the music world dropped this past week. The Gallagher Brothers have kissed and made up, so they can get paid lots of money as they tour together as their former dynamic duo name of Oasis. Tour is next year – that’s a lot of time. What’s the first word of this song?

(“Live Forever” cut)

That’s right, maybe as in “maybe it will happen.” I think it will. So much money involved – how could it not. Personally, I want them to push iall the chips in and do another album. Until they do, I challenge Oasis to it by stating I believe Blur is still better because they keep making the albums. (“Countryhouse”)

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • First up – have you heard of Aaron Bruno? (A-A-RON clip) How about AWOLNATION? (clip) That’s a classic from 2010 called “Sail”. I love that part about ADD (clip) But that’s old AWOLNATION. Today we have a whole bunch of new AWOLNATION (“Party People” clip) Like that song called “Party People” – 10 songs are all nicely packaged together under the title of The Phantom Five. (“I Am Happy” clip) 3 songs were previously released and that one there was definitely my favorite favorites called “I Am Happy” – guesting on the song is Del The Funky Homosapien who happens to do one of my favorite raps on the Gorillaz song “Clint Eastwood” (“Clint Eastwood” clip) Back to AWOLNATION and The Phantom Five – it’s a great listen from beginning to end. I’ve done it a couple times already. Song being pushed by AWOLNATION since a new video for it has been released is the song “Barbarian” (clip)
  • Last August, we received our first taste of new Big Sean music within a trailer for the video game NBA 2K24 (“Precision” in NBA game) The song was officially released this past March as the lead single of his sixth studio album, Better Me Than You. (“Precision”) Via social media, Sean described this new album as being guided by four pillars represented by colors: PRESSURE (red), which leads to CLARITY (aqua blue), which gives FOCUS (green), and ultimately brings HAPPINESS (yellow gold). (“Yes” clip) Me too Sean. 21 songs, over an hour of new music – again the album is called Better Me Than You from Big Sean
  • (“Born to Run” clip) Mondo Cozmo played that song when he recorded his guest DJ spot on E Street Radio – part of XM Satellite Radio. During his DJ role playing, he explained how he plays songs by Bruce Springsteen for the happiness and the sad. (“Feel Good” clip) That wasn’t a Bruce song there though, that was a throw back to 2022 by Mondo Cozmo himself and what his music does for me – “Feel Good” (another clip) Sorry. I’m playing old stuff and he’s got new stuff. I’ve been looking forward to this full album drop too ever since I heard the first release “Angels” (clip) Today, the Spotify and artist push appears to be towards the title track of the album – It’s Principle! (clip)
  • Several quick hits of new music: Amy Allen released another new song called “to love me” – more importantly her new album comes out entirely next Friday. So much more on her – next Friday // Victoria Monet and Usher teamed up for a song – it’s called “SOS” which stands for Sex on Sight. Go enjoy – obviously it’s naughty. // Off of Sia’s most recent album – Reasonable Woman, there’s a song called “Immortal Queen” which guests Chaka Khan. Today – there’s a remix where they add Debbie Harry to the song. (Clip)

Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Spill Magazine, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.

Be sure to check out the playlist on Spotify. As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from A$AP Rocky, Fuller, and anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“Never let your fear decide your fate.” – by Aaron Bruno (AWOLNATION)

Happy 33rd to Ten! / My favorite track wasn’t Alive, Jeremy, or even, Even Flow / Quote from Eddie Vedder

morning babble / Tuesday 08-27-24

Borrowing words from someone else in an attempt to spread happiness everywhere or at the very least – a reasonable range. Hey – go click that video!

(“Even Flow” clip)

Happy Birthday, Ten! You just turned 33. That’s right – on this date back in 1991 – the debut studio album from Pearl Jam was released. This album produced three hit singles: “Jeremy”, “Alive”, and the one that you just heard a bit of “Even Flow.”

However, my favorite from the the album – “Why Go”

(“Why Go” Clip)

When all else fails: there’s video!

(“Fire” cut)

From 2015, that’s “Fire” which gained fame after being used in the Bradley Cooper movie Burnt. That song enabled Barns Courtney to quit his retail job and sign a record deal. All because of Bradley Cooper.

Hmmm – we need to reach out to Bradley.

(Missed Music Monday opener)

Over the years, I’ve listened to a lot of Barns Courtney. So, I didn’t think that I’d miss an entire album drop from early this summer by the name of: Supernatural

(“National Treasure” cut)

I missed it though. The other day, I randomly heard that song “National Treasure” and it made me dig in more. Album was out in June – again called Supernatural. 10 songs – something to enjoy from beginning to end.

Please subscribe on YouTube and spread the Babble wherever you can – Thank you!

Tune in tomorrow for: Quote of the Day!

“Quote of the Day” – Saturday 08-24-24

morning babble / Saturday 08-24-24

Borrowing words from someone else in an attempt to spread happiness everywhere or at the very least – a reasonable range. Hey – go click that video!

(“Can’t Knock the Hustle” clip)

Reasonable Doubt is the debut studio album by Jay-Z – It was released on June 25, 1996

Mr. Kobe Bryant debuted in the NBA on Nov. 3, 1996 – played six minutes off the bench.

Reasonable Doubt was one of Kobe’s favorite albums.

(clip)

It’s officially Kobe Bryant Day – the date was chosen because of Bryant’s numbers on his jerseys (8 and 24) – it’s also the day after his birthday, August 23.

Empty chair / Walk in

I’m not good with silence. I need it filled. Not with words, but music.

(Lit “My Own Worst Enemy”)

(Morning Babble Intro)

Happy Weekend! Last non-holiday weekend of Summer. Next weekend – It’s Labor Day weekend and then, well, I’m sorry to say – summer will officially be over.

(crying)

We’ll get through it with Pumpkin Spice.

(Lit “My Own Worst Anti-Hero”)

That’s the band Lit doing a mash up of their hit song that I played at the very beginning called “My Own Worst Enemy” (clip) and, yes, Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” (clip). I had no idea that song was out there.. Nor was I aware of all the other albums that Lit has made since that 1999 Platinum album – A Place in the Sun. (“Miserable” cut) I get mixed feelings when I miss music like this – part of me is bummed b/c “How Did I Miss This?” While the other half gets excited at all the additional music I can now dive into. Someone, somewhere is staring at the screen and stating – where’s the new music, buddy?

(“Breakaway” Lit)

There – that’s a cover by Lit of the Kelly Clarkson song “Breakaway” – it came out this past June. Probably should have put it on Missed Music Monday.

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • I was excitedly anticipating this one on Friday Eve – new Blink-182 (“All in My Head”) We actually got two new songs today from Blink – that one is called “All in My Head”. AND – we have even more new music coming. Their album from last year was called One More Time . . . (“Edging” cut) it had 19 songs – nearly an hour of music – that’s a solid album. But now, the band has announced an expanded version , which is called One More Time… Part-2 and arrives September 6th – psst – that’s 2 weeks away (clip) when that glorious date we’ll be able to enjoy an additional eight new songs. Well – I guess 6 now. You heard “All in My Head”, but we also got the other new song called “No Fun” (clip)
  • Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Espresso” has been labeled by many as the song of the Summer (clip) It’s catchy and I agree it’s in the running, but if somebody would pin me down – would it be Sabrina pinning me down? Oh it’s just a saying – then, I’d probably go with Shaboozey (“A Bar Song (Tipsy)”) Let’s get back to Sabrina – her long awaited album Short n’ Sweet is out today. 12 songs in all (“Please Please Please” cut) I’m always surprised at how sweet and innocent she can sound and then if you listen real closely to a song like “Taste” (clip) that is so naughty. (Be right back)
  • On their 4th album, the Irish group: Fontaines D.C went more rock (“Starburster” clip) Did you hear that panic-attack heavy breathing moment in the song? I’ll play it again (“Starburster” clip) I have no idea why, but I just really enjoy that hook in the song. Anyway – their 4th album is out and it’s called: Romance (“Romance” clip) And – “Romance” is also the name of the 1st song on the album, but the one being pushed by Spotify and the band appears to be the song “In The Modern World” (clip)
  • That is one weird video by the way – I’ll provide a link. Several quick hits of new music: Yaeji (Yay-G) is back with a new song and utilizes the hook of her hit song from 2017 “Raingurl” for this new one – which is called “booboo” which is also fun to say // Not sure who asked for a remake of this song (clip) I was very happy with that Beastie Boys original. If you must, there is a cover by Motley Crue. I’m not going to play it. // Got another new song from Myles Smith who always puts a smile on my face with his music. Be sure to go check it all out, but we did get the new one: “Wait for You” // Lastly, this along with Blink songs I was excited to listen to all weekend long. Mr. Bryce Fox has slowly been releasing a new song here and there. I’m thinking another full album has got to be on the way. In the meantime, we gifted to us “Butterfly” (clip)

As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from Travis Scott (actually, a rerelease 10th anniversary album), Gel, , and Matt Kearney AND anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

We get a new Blink-182 song . . . tomorrow

(“Golden Boy” cut)

We get a new Bryce Fox song . . . tomorrow.

So – what’s today? Pumpkin Spice Latte, of course.

It’s delicious. Happy Friday Eve

“So Long Chicago” via Pokey LaFarge and Howard Stern / Quote of the Day from the King of All Media

morning babble / Tuesday 08-20-24

Borrowing words from someone else in an attempt to spread happiness everywhere or at the very least – a reasonable range. Hey – go click that video!

(clip of “So Long Chicago”)

That’s a different sound that I’ve been enjoying lately. It’s Pokey LaFarge and the song is called “So Long Chicago”

(another clip)

On this date of August 20th back in 1993, Howard Stern said “So Long Chicago” as he was fired from WLUP-AM out of Chicago.

(clip)

Sometimes I don’t just miss music from last Friday . . . sometimes it’s from May.

(Missed Music Monday opener)

One of my favorite Elbow songs – “The Fix” – has Richard Hawley guesting on the song

(Cut of “The Fix”)

This weekend I heard it and thought – hmmm – maybe I should look up Richard Hawley

(clip)

Yup – he had a new album released back in May called – In This City They Call You Love

(clip)

It’s definitely one to give a listen.

(“Guns in the Sky” song)

I think I’ve warned you that I’d play INXS whenever given the chance.

Well, August 16th is National INXS day.

(“Guns in the Sky” song)

(Morning Babble Intro)

Happy mid-August! We are there. Summer is almost gone. Pumpkin Spice Latte is rumored to be making its return to Starbucks on Thursday. And after that – well the Christmas tree goes up (elf clip)

#INXSDay!

Also, Happy INXS Day Weekend – 47 years ago – that’s 1977. INXS was born – the band formed on August 16th. That song “Guns in the Sky” that I played clips of in the beginning. It was recently redone back in June (clip) They call it the Kookaburra remix – almost as much fun as saying Beabadoobee or as Elf experienced Francisco. (clip)

Too soon with all the Christmas clips? I’ll tell you what’s not too soon.

(Countdown Video)

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • Remember when Post Malone was considered hip-hop? Doing songs with Quavo? (“Congratulations” clip) That was 2016 – like 8 years ago. A year later, I remember my son loving that song “Sunflower” like way too much. #5 Spotify played song with 3.455 billion streams (“Sunflower”) Just last year, Post went more pop. This song “Chemical” really made me stop. (“Chemical” clip) To think that this is the dude that sung “White Iverson” and now, Post Malone has gone all out country and today that album is all out in its glory. There’s 18 songs, nearly hour of new music – album is called F-1 Trillion. Meanwhile, one of the songs Spotify is pushing includes Chris Stapleton on the vocals along with Post Malone – “California Sober” (clip)
  • Jake Bugg is set to release his 6th album – A Modern Day Distraction – which he states as being Green Day inspired (Green Day clip) – that was Green Day by the way. Early last month, Jake Bugg released “All Kinds of People” (clip) I really like that guitar (play clip). The whole album comes out October 4th, but today we have the 3rd release called “Keep On Moving” (clip)
  • About a month ago, Japandroids released this song “Chicago”(“Chicago” clip) That’s the first release off of their upcoming album called Fate & Alcohol due out this Autumn (I’m putting a push on saying Autumn) on October 18th to be exact. As announced during the release of the “Chicago” song along with the album announcement was the fact that this will be the last album from the band. Like that’s going to be it. Today though, we do have the 2nd release off the Canadian rock duo’s final album, so let’s embrace that – apparently this song was inspired in Philly when they wrapped up their las tour – here’s “D&T” (clip)
  • Several quick hits of new music: It’s been 7 years since their last album – but they are officially back. Foster the People have released: Paradise State of Mind // Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga have teamed up for the new single “Die With a Smile” which will also appear on Lady Gaga’s upcoming album which apparently is almost finished. // If you hit up this guy’s Instagram account and listed in the bio is “South Jersey Music.” His name is Henrik. One of his past songs is “Go Birds” and I fully agree. Today though, he gave us the song “Wishing Well” (clip)

I really like the artwork on the cover for that single. That’s what he’s done for the past several singles. Henrik – South Jersy kid.

(“Georgia Train” – Jesse Roper)

That’s the newest song from Jesse Roper – actually released back in June. Tracking him for some more. The song is called “Georgia Train” – but, he’s from Canada.

(“Georgia Train” – Jesse Roper)

The Strait of Georgia is up there, but that’s a body of water. No train is going through that.

Happy Friday Eve by the way

That’s the newest book from David Goggins. His mom said how much she liked this quote.
