MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”
(Music Cut #1 – opening of “Dead & Bloated”)
Yesterday…
we celebrated Alice in Chains releasing Dirt back in 1992.
They weren’t the only ones.
On the exact same day…
Stone Temple Pilots released their debut album…
Core
(Music Cut #2 — “Dead & Bloated” kicks in)
And buried near the end of Core…
is a song that wasn’t really planned at all.
Scott Weiland and Robert DeLeo…
were alone in the studio…
and started improvising.
(Music Cut #3 – beginning of “Wet The Bed”)
Then producer Brendan O’Brien walked in…
and asked…
“All right, now what?”
They left the whole thing on the album.
And yes…
that’s the same Brendan O’Brien who worked with Pearl Jam…
Soundgarden…
and even The Boss…
Bruce Springsteen.
(Music Cut #4 – “All right, now what?” cut)
You’ll hear that at the very end of “Wet My Bed” and into “Crackerman”
