MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1 intro to “Gett Off”)

Released on this day in 1991…

Prince brought along a brand-new band…

and gave us…

Diamonds and Pearls.

(Music Cut #2 – more “Gett Off” stating “Club Mix”)

And one of the album’s biggest songs…

wasn’t even supposed to be there.

On his 33rd birthday, Prince pressed 1,500 copies of “Gett Off”…

and sent them to DJs…

(Music Cut #3)

The reaction changed everything.

“Gett Off” was added to the album at the last minute…

replacing “Horny Pony.”

But apparently, nobody told the artwork department…

because “Horny Pony” STILL appeared in the album’s track-listing artwork!
