MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1 — Rancid, “Ruby Soho”)

Released on this day…

back in 1995…

Rancid gave us a great song to sing along to…

“Ruby Soho.”

(Music Cut #2 — Rancid, “Ruby Soho”)

And years later…

Someone else wanted to sing along as well.

A reggae legend who decided to record his very own version!

(Music Cut #3 — Jimmy Cliff, “Ruby Soho”)

That’s Jimmy Cliff!

And Rancid’s own Tim Armstrong was the producer!

But the connection between the two…

came through Joe Strummer of The Clash!

(Music Cut #4 — Rancid, “Ruby Soho”)

LYRIC OF THE DAY:
“As she wipes a tear from her eye
Ruby’s fadin’ out, she disappears
It’s time, time to say goodbye.” – Rancid, “Ruby Soho”
