Screaming Trees with “Nearly Lost You.”

This became the Screaming Trees’ signature song

after landing on the Singles soundtrack –

basically the grunge yearbook,

with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains,

and everybody else in the Seattle hallway.

Right before their David Letterman debut of this song,

the band reportedly got into a bar fight in New Jersey.

Lead singer Mark Lanegan showed up

sporting a black eye.

Afterward, Letterman admitted:

“I’ll be honest with you…

I was kind of scared.”

Grunge rock at its best.
