MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1 — “Susanne” / Mallrats clip)

Released on this day in 1995…

Kevin Smith followed up Clerks…

with his second movie…

Mallrats.

And this time, Weezer was on the soundtrack!

(Music Cut #2 — “Susanne”)

The song was “Susanne”…

was actually written about a real person.

Susanne Filkins worked at Geffen Records…

She helped Weezer during their early early days.

(Music Cut #3 — Mallrats ending / Jay and Silent Bob)

At the very end of Mallrats…

Jay and Silent Bob are walking around…

with an orangutan named Suzanne!

But just you wait until Clerks 2 where there’s a donkey…

That’s a story for another day.

(Music Cut #4 — “Susanne”)

LYRIC OF THE DAY:
“Even Izzy, Slash, and Axl Rose
When I call, you put ’em all on hold
And say to me that you’d do anything.” – Weezer “Susanne”
