MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1 – “Pardon Me”)

Released on this day in 1999…

Incubus gave us their third studio album…

Make Yourself

which included one of the band’s biggest songs…

“Pardon Me”

(Music Cut #2 – “Pardon Me”)

Brandon Boyd was flipping through a magazine…

when he came across a photograph…

that he couldn’t get out of his head.

(Music Cut #3 – “Pardon Me”)

It showed a person…

who had supposedly burst into flames!

Yep, spontaneous human combustion!

And THAT image…

helped inspire the lyrics to “Pardon Me”

(Music Cut #4 – “Pardon Me”)

LYRIC OF THE DAY:
“So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me… I’ll never be the same.” – Incubus “Pardon Me”
