Mini goals accomplished yesterday / 2 minutes cold shower at the end / Worked out this morning – that’s twice for the week. Hoping to run tomorrow. Tuesday though. That’s the day that messes me up.
Derek Sivers does have a podcast but it is inactive now – which means “no new ones for now”. However, all the platforms that carry podcasts should still have it available to give it all a listen. Click here for yourself.

Happy Monday – Thank you to everyone for reaching about our little Brodie-man. He will be missed. We went away this weekend and did have a wonderful time at LBI with friends and family. Our other little dog – Charlie – was a little confused though. In fact, last night, we were back at our house and he began crying in his bed where he and Brodie used to sleep together. I scooped him up and put him in bed with my wife and I.
Fun stuff – Brodie was named after Jason Lee’s character in Kevin Smith’s film – Mallrats.
Charlie was named after the name my Pop-pop gave everyone when he didn’t remember your name. He would just call them Charlie.

GOAL SETTING MONDAY
Accomplishments –
I ran this past weekend / I still have Plantar Fasciitis / But, I ran and the foot did not get worse. Goal for this week is to work out 4x again.
Week ahead –
Use this Forest App / Plant a tree – work for 25 minutes straight without touching your phone. If someone calls, you can allow it. But – no texting / no looking things up on it.
Actually – after 25 minutes straight, I do 25 jumping jacks and push-ups.
The goal overall is 5 to 6 of these sessions.

Welcome Friday!
3-Day Fast officially over! Last night on Instagram, I posted about having a beer via Dogfish Head and wings via our nearby pizza place – Valle’s. Wonderful. I didn’t make it to ice cream date – couldn’t do it. But that’s okay. I paced myself with the wings to satisfy the belly and not overdo it. That’s never fun.

New Music Friday:
Coming out next Friday (the 25th), we’re going to get the new deluxe edition album of Versions of Me from the Brazilian pop superstar – Anitta. A couple days ago, she dropped a video with the one and only Missy Elliott. The song “Lobby” will be included on this new deluxe album, but today we can hear the song and watch the video. (clip) That’s Anitta and then you have Missy (another clip). And she makes me naughty smile. That’s a fun song. You can go back to revisit the Anitta album Versions of Me, but the deluxe one with the “Lobby” song – next Friday.
Several weeks ago, the Red Hot Chili Peppers announced another new studio album: Return of the Dream Canteen coming out on October 14th. I had fully expected a new song with that announcement, but was totally wrong. Today though, they finally delivered one as well as a new video (clip) Anothony Kiedis looking like Moe from the 3 Stooges (clip) Anyway, that song is called “Tippa My Tongue” – a lot of sex talk in there – hidden creatively – not as in your face as “Suck My Kiss.” Today – “Tippa My Tongue” / Oct 14th – the whole album, Return of the Dream Canteen
Last night at midnight, K-pop superstars Blackpink released “Pink Venom,” their lead single off the upcoming album, Born Pink, which is out in its entirety on September 16th. Also, last night their video dropped (Video). They’re fit individuals. Anyway – When I last checked over 35 million views already. Since midnight last night. Looks like I’m taking second place.
Finally, let’s chill it out some with one of my favorites to relax to: Old Sea Brigade. The guy behind it all is Ben Cramer. I’ve enjoyed all his past albums. Currently though, he seems to be slowly releasing song by song his new album 5AM Paradise which is due out in its entirety on October 28th. Today, we get “Monochrome” which appears to be the 4th song from this upcoming new album. He did a video too. I’ll provide a link.

Day 2 of the 3 Day Fast – toughest one. Seems like there is no end in sight.
6:27PM tomorrow night (Thursday)
137 days until EXIT PLAN
Welcome to AMA Wednesday –
Via someone – “Why just a 3 Day fast?”
It’s a quick refresh for the body / “tune-up” / I don’t want anything longer. They really don’t suggest the longer fasts as frequently as the 3-day fast. So, if I have a 5 day or 7 day or even 10 day fast – they say that should be done quarterly or spread them out even more. I enjoy the monthly quick refreshers for the body. Regain my self-control. I believe it helps my allergy situation with the body reset. Lastly, it’s now an easy win for myself, but still not the easiest thing to do.
Other benefits of a 3 Day Fast – took this from the Siim Land’s website – www.siimland.com
Cellular Detoxification and Repair aka Autophagy. ‘Autophagy’ is a metabolic pathway that causes the organism to ‘self-digest’ itself and removes waste material from the cells[i]. Autophagy is required to maintain lean body mass and it actually inhibits the breakdown of muscle in adults[ii]. It’s also needed for healthy brain cell mitochondria[iii]. In the process, inflammation throughout the body and overall oxidative stress gets reduced[iv].
In order to induce and achieve autophagy, you need about 14–16 hours of fasting, but it is even more likely to happen after 24 hours. This is also the brain fog starting to lift.

Welcome to National Fasting Day – according to the fasting app – Zero App
They chose this day because of a fast that everyone can do today – the 16:8 intermittent fasting. 16 hour window of fasting / 8 hour window of eating.
Also, it’s National INXS Day – they turn 45! To celebrate, there’s all kinds of specialty releases today as well as a special TikTok streaming party.

Fasting tips – how to get through these 3 days!
Stay busy. Don’t pick a week when you’ll be sitting around at home . . . near the kitchen. I enjoy packing my workdays during the week of a fast. So – typically, my Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are full work days – nothing short and easy.
“Flavor Up” your water – I drink a lot of water during work days and even though this is a delicious way to go each and every time with your water, I save it for my 3 Day Fast times. In turn, it becomes a hidden “treat” for the fast. When you add a small slice of lemon or a couple slices of cucumber to your water, the water becomes “flavored” and is a glorious welcome to the taste buds. In fact, I have learned that during a fast, your senses begin to “fine tune” themselves. In turn, these simple flavor additives are dramatically enjoyed and felt by the body.
Start your day with a glass of water – add a lemon slice along with a pinch of salt. When consuming all this water during a fast, your body becomes depleted of electrolytes and in some cases, rather quickly. When this happens, there can be symptoms along the lines of cramping, fatigue, dizziness, and in severe cases even blackouts. So, supplement a with electrolytes (salt) in the morning . . . and that will set off your day right.
Caffeine is known to suppress appetite, so drinking the java or tea helps you get through the fast. Watch how much you ingest though – without anything on the belly, that caffeine hits the bloodstream quickly and BOOM! Your heart can go racing a little too quickly. This is always another time where I’ll treat myself with another type of coffee. A fancier dark roast bean because the tasting experience is heightened and I enjoy the better analysis that I can make on the coffee.

On Friday, I talked about my daughter and how you never know when it will be the last time in picking up your child. Several people reached out asking how old my little girl was. She’s 6 and since she is 6 . . . you know that we count even the months. So, she’s not just 6, but 6 1/2. It’s funny when you’re a kid you count by the months. BUT – I remember my Nana. Once she was 98, 99, 100. She celebrated monthly birthdays. Get me a cake every month!

GOAL SETTING MONDAY
Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor / I’m just letting you know what I’ve learned
Well, 3 Day Fast is the goal for this week along with some other things. But – let’s talk fasting. To prepare for a fast, there are three common suggestions:
Remove Inflammatory Foods like alcohol and sugar. You shouldn’t be inhaling candy prior to the fast. No clubbing tonight either / or bar hopping.
Limit Carbohydrate Consumption – When carbs are limited and cut from a diet, the body will have an easier transition into ketosis. Meanwhile, others will move into the fat-burning stage more quickly than some
Start Restricting Your Feeding Window: Slowly restricting your feeding window and fasting for longer periods of time each day will help when one begins a fast that takes place over several days at a time.
Now, for me, I know that during my Meaty May / Low Carb Month, I had the most difficult time with my 3 Day Fast. I believe my body did move along more quickly into Ketosis – almost too quickly. I found myself so weak – immediately. Normally, I can run or workout during a fast. Not that month. That was extremely difficult. The month after (June), I remember inhaling a Burger King burger and then a 2 pack of Reese’s PB cups in the parking lot of my son’s baseball game. I was just fine again with the 3 Day Fast – no issues. For me, the transition was better because I had a better “base” to pull from? Again, I’m no doctor, but that’s how I felt.
Our typical meal on a Monday night is pasta with sauce & sausage AND some wine. So, I continuously abuse the first two suggestions. Tonight is that meal too.
I agree with the 3rd suggestion whole-heartedly. Shrinking down the eating window prior to a prolonged fast is always a good idea. I feel as if you are “readying the ship” for the fasting voyage. So, leading up to a fast – shrink that eating window – all in on that idea.

Last night, my daughter fell asleep in bed with my wife while reading. I was in the house library reading and eventually came to bed. I scooped her up and she’s getting heavier. Not my little little girl anymore. They always say that you’ll never know when’s the last time you’ll pick up your kid. Last night, I held her a little closer as I walked her to her room and then climbed the stairs of her ladder to get her into top bunk.

Per Pitchfork – Rage Against the Machine have canceled the European leg of their reunion tour, but will go ahead with their three-night run at Madison Square Garden, which was last night, tonight (Friday) and Sunday night. They wrote on social media that bandleader Zack de la Rocha had been instructed not to proceed with the intensive European run on the advice of his doctor. North American dates early next year are scheduled to go ahead.
El-P, who is supporting the reunion tour with Killer Mike in Run the Jewels, tweeted out that de la Rocha “trooped through what for most people would be an immediate tour ending injury like a true warrior and i know him and the rage crew truly wanted to keep going as we certainly did.”
New Music Friday:
I always start my day with the New Music Friday playlist from Spotify. Today, it opened with “Super Freaky Girl” by Nicki Minaj – that was a wake-up. Fun song. Put the buds in. I couldn’t really play any of the video lyrics that I saw either. Anyway – that song was followed by Megan Thee Stallion and her song “Her”. Same thing – fun song, buds in the ear. Nicki just has the single out, but Megan has a whole new album out today. On that album with her – you’ve got Key Glock, Rico Nasty, Dua Lipa, Future and more. So full album today from Megan Thee Stallion. With Nicki Minaj – you get that single “Super Freaky Girl” – she make me blush. Oh – by the way – Nicki will receive Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at 2022 MTV VMAs (airs August 28th)
The video clip at the beginning of the Babble was The Killers with “Mr. Brightside.” Nothing from them today, but we do get new Eve 6. Don’t worry – we’ll get there to why I played that song. First – you know Eve 6 because of this one (clip) and this (clip), but they really do have a lot more. I’m a fan. Anyway, today they came out with “Mr. Darkside.” They also announced that their first full-length record in 10 years will be coming out on September 23rd – it’s called Hyper Relevisation
Danger Mouse makes a return today with his new album Cheat Codes which is a full-length collaboration with Roots front man Black Thought. 12 songs / 38 minutes. BUT – the song that I was listening to today featured A$AP Rocky and Run the Jewels on it – the song is called “Strangers” – it’s a smidgeon of Run the Jewels, so I’ll take it. But again, whole new Danger Mouse album today.
Lastly, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have returned with another single from their upcoming album Cool It Down, their first album in nine years. Today (or actually from Wednesday), we get “Burning,” which follows their earlier song “Spitting Off the Edge of the World.” Whole album drops – September 16th.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!
3 Day Fast is next week! We’ll learn words like “Autophagy”

Last Thursday, I talked about ordering some records and I got them. In particular, I got my Lead Belly record from Third Man Records – Huddie (hyoo-dee) “Lead Belly” Ledbetter.
Via Third Man Records: Louisiana delta native Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter is the master of twelve-string blues guitar. His story is one of high-highs and low-lows, from serving stints in prison after killing a man in a fight for a woman’s heart, but then eventually earning early release by entertaining his fellow prison-mates and penning a song for the governor, thus cementing his reputation of singing his way out of prison. His songs have been widely covered by artists such as Elvis, Nirvana, Johnny Cash, and the Grateful Dead.
Played at the beginning of today’s babble was Nirvana covering Lead Belly’s “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?” during the television series – “MTV Unplugged.” The show was recorded on November 18, 1993 and then aired on the cable television network MTV on December 16, 1993. MTV Unplugged in New York is the live album from Nirvana which was released on November 1, 1994. Kurt Cobain had died earlier that year in 1994 on April 5th.
Play the clip of show.
