Happy Birthday to my niece, Emma – She’s one.

#281 of 5K runs – in a row!

30,000 countdown – 17, 115

New Music Friday:

  • Adele has a new song out coming out next Friday (10/15) – It’s called “Easy on Me.” She had a teaser video come out earlier in the week. Adele says her new album was recorded to help her nine-year-old son understand why she and his father got divorced.
  • “Everybody Wants to Rule The World” / “Shout” / “Sowing The Seeds of Love” – Remember all them? Tears for Fears, the duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, are back. Today, they announced their first album in 17 years. The Tipping Point is out February 25. Orzabal retained the Tears for Fears name as a solo project, releasing the albums Elemental (1993) and Raoul and the Kings of Spain (1995). Orzabal and Smith reconciled in 2000 and released an album of new material, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, in 2004. The duo have toured consistently since then. I thought one of them was dead. I honestly feel horrible.
  • Another song released from the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss duo – it’s called “High and Lonesome.” The whole album – Raise the Roof – is set for release on Nov. 19. They will tour in 2022 as well.
  • Lastly, a fun sounding “ska” type song from a combination of We are the Union and Eve6. The song is called “Sound System”.
  • Norah Jones has announced the release of her first-ever holiday album, I Dream Of Christmas, Norah Jones “I’ve always loved Christmas music but never had the inclination to make a holiday album until now,” Jones said. “Last year I found myself listening to James Brown’s Funky Christmas and Elvis’s Christmas Album on Sundays during lockdown for a sense of comfort. In January 2021, I started thinking about making a Christmas album of my own. It gave me something fun to work on and look forward to. website link “Christmas Calling” is the single being played now.
  • When Christmas Comes Around… is the upcoming ninth studio album by American singer Kelly Clarkson. The 15-song collection features Ariana Grande (“Santa Can’t You Hear Me”), Chris Stapleton (“Glow”) and Brett Eldredge (“Under the Mistletoe”). In addition to original cuts, the set will feature covers of classics like “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Santa Baby” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” Next Friday – the whole album drop. Today, you can hear the single, “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You),”

Birthdays (Lauren today) and Memories/ Ryan Holiday podcast introduced me to Kate Bowler

morning babble / Thursday 10-07-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Lot of birthdays this month – my daughter’s, my mother-in-law’s husband yesterday, Lauren (my niece) today, gotta another niece tomorrow (she’s 1 and I’ve met her once). My niece, Lauren, has a baby now too – that I’ve only witnessed growing via InstaGram. Next family get together – we’ll need to have a family tree laid out.

We lost some important people this month too. My Super Nana – 3 years ago on the 5th. She was 100, 9 months. This weekend, gonna be one year without my brother-in-law, Barry. And now last night, my business partner got news of his father in law passing.

Enjoy the now – people!

Kate Bowler’s first memoir, prompted by her stage IV cancer diagnosis at the age of 35, was titled Everything Happens for a Reason (and Other Lies I’ve Loved). Doctors estimated Bowler, then the mother of a new baby and author of her first academic book, had about two years to live. Website link.

“Trying to make our lives meaningful all the time is so stupid. And it’s one of the limits to the whole “Be Here Now,” mentality, mastery mindset crap. We can’t make every minute into a moment. Sometimes you just have to pay bills and show up for your friend and listen to her talk again about whether she should dump her boyfriend — and she should — and be in a faculty meeting and be in traffic.” / Website link

morning babble / Tuesday 10-05-21

Lethargic – that’s how I felt this morning. Not sure why. Wasn’t up late.

JoJo Siwa did good dancing again. It was an Argentine tango and on Britney Night – the song chosen was “Baby One More Time.”

I did finally run – #278 in a row of 5K runs.

Vitamins – take them 5 out of 7 days / I’ll review them tomorrow.

Trying to be more positive / It’s easy to tell the miserable, bad tales of the day. I almost think that you’re hoping someone else can top you OR you’re just out to make other feel your misery. I don’t want to anymore. I thought it was good venting it all out and not pack-pack-packing it away until BOOM!

morning babble / Monday 10-04-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Back at it on a Monday! It was a busy weekend. I’m still getting used to seeing people again. I kinda got used to not seeing anyone. Anyway – one thing that gets me are compliments. When someone compliments my shirt, that’s great. BUT – now, I can never wear that shirt in front of you again. I mean, back in the day, trying to date, I guess you could have that “go-to” shirt to grab that guy or gal’s attention.

I ran! #276 was done yesterday on the mil. Today, #277 on the mill as well.

Countdown to 30,000 words for my book: Confessions of a Workaholic. Well, progress was made but not too much. I am now at 16,127 words.

Violet’s Birthday yesterday – it’s her birthday weekend. Actually, we’re about to head out to pick up bunk beds for her room. Then, gotta get it into her room somehow.

Yesterday, I hit the trails and ran #275 of my 5K runs in a row. Today, #276 will happen somewhere – probably on the mill.

Books (and Comics) on a Sunday!

Happy B-Day Violet! / INXS & Chris Cornell smash up/ 1st side of Audioslave’s Audioslave – the best

morning babble / Saturday 10-02-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Whew – I’m all over the place today. It’s my daughter’s birthday. She’s 6. Happy B-day, Violet. She wanted Dunkin today, so that’s the reason for my delay of running.

#275 of my 5K runs will take place on the mill or maybe outside.

It’s cold out. It’s that time of year when you forget your jacket somewhere. Get all bundled up in the morning and then strip it on off as the day goes on. And you forget. Until the next morning.

You know what I like to do on mornings like today. Roll down all the windows and blast the heat onto my feet and drive blaring some tunes. I had on Audioslave’s “Show Me How To Live” which is off their very first album together. That side one of the album is amazing. One of the best for rock songs. It’s actually a double vinyl album – 14 songs, over an hour of rock. Today, you’re lucky to get 10 songs and more than 30 minutes from some bands.

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – How did you know that you got lost at the race? One – I came out at the wrong end of the finish line. But two – I could go back to my watch and see the route that I ran. At the very end, with about .4 miles to go, I went right and clearly should have gone left. I then ran over a mile more and popped out thinking, “Well, at least I ran my 5K.”

Countdown to 30,000 words for Confessions of a Workaholic is underway.

  • Philly native, Meek Mill released his new album Expensive Pain. Also, announced album playback concert at Madison Square Garden on October 23rd. Two songs being pushed with the aid of videos are “Intro (Hate On Me)” and “On My Soul.”
  • Philly-rooted singer-songwriter Amos Lee returns next year with his seventh studio album, Dreamland, due out February 11th. But – today – we get “Shoulda Known Better.” Next year, there’s a hometown show on Friday, April 15th at The Met Philly
  • During Limp Bizkit’s Lollapalooza 2021 Set, lead singer, Fred Durst, appeared with new “dad” look that included silver hair and a handlebar mustache. They also sang a new song, “Dad Vibes.” It’s like a throwback song. I’m trying to decide.
  • Over 7 years after topping the Billboard 200 with their first joint effort, ‘Cheek to Cheek,’ GRAMMY winners Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga reunite not only for the song “Love for Sale” but a 12 track album as well. You can hear redone classic like ‘I Get a Kick Out of You’ and “I’ve Got You under My Skin.” It’s also been announced that this is the last album for the 95 year old Tony Bennett.

Two 20 Minute Sleeping Rules: I’ve been breaking one/ Several quotes from one of my GOATs: Tim Ferriss

morning babble / Thursday 09-30-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

(2) 20 minute sleep rules and I’ve abused the one terribly this week. This is the one where if you wake up 20 minutes or less prior to your alarm, just get up.

The one rule is if you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night tossing and turning for more than 20 minutes. Get up. Go read in another room. Go write in another room. Don’t social media. Beds are made for two things: sleeping . . . and, uh, turtle time (see video for visual).

I ran. #273 of 5K runs in a row. I now have over 900 miles logged for the year. 9 months completed / 3 months to go.
