MUSIC THAT MATTERS – “Lyric of the Day”

(Music Cut #1 — Rage Against the Machine, “Killing in the Name”)

Around this time…

back in 1992…

Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album!

(Music Cut #2 — “Bombtrack”)

On one of the album’s songs, a guest vocalist was featured…

He was from another band that was just starting to make some noise

(Music Cut #3 — “Know Your Enemy” — Maynard’s vocal section)

That’s Maynard James Keenan…from TOOL!

But guess what – he was the back-up!

Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction was supposed to be there…

but according to Tom Morello…

they couldn’t find Perry that day…

so they called their buddy Maynard instead!

(Music Cut #4 — “Know Your Enemy”)

LYRIC OF THE DAY:
“Action must be taken
We don’t need the key, we’ll break in
Something must be done
About vengeance, a badge, and a gun.” – Rage Against the Machine, “Know Your Enemy”
