morning babble / Saturday 09-11-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Forgive me – I’m a little all over the place today in my head. I did run. #254. Did it on the mill. It’s a beautiful day outside, but my allergies are just getting used to all this ragweed and I was up throughout the night. Why my wife tolerates that . . . well, when she’s asleep, she’s asleep. Ragweed goes away (for the most part) with the first frost – bring it on.

It’s 9/11 and we all know about what happened 20 years ago. Never forget – very true. Don’t ever forget, but sometimes reliving all the sad – I’m not so sure – at least for myself. We all deal with loss in different ways. So, today’s a day I listen a lot. If you want to talk about it, I’m here. I don’t really want to tell my story about where I was during that point of time – because it was rather insignificant to where some people were that day whose lives were lost or with people who directly lost their husbands, wives, children, or best of friends that day. Don’t ever forget.

Today is also my sister-in-law’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Danielle. I love you and I hope you have a wonderful special day. Make sure Keith gives you an extra long “why is he still squeezing me” hug from me. Happy Birthday to anyone else who’s day is today. Happy Anniversary to anyone who was married on this day. It’s still your day. Enjoy the now!

And then lastly – today has been looked forward to in this household because we are getting a pet bird. My son is. He saved for it. It’s no parakeet. It’s a Jenday Conure. Hatched back in July. No name yet. I’m thinking Byrd . . . with a “y”. I had a morning guy named “Byrd”. Hopefully by tomorrow, we’ll have an official name though. I got a recent picture of “Byrd”:

“Byrd”

Typically, I answer questions today and I was going to break down my morning routine. I felt that should just be held off for now until next week.

New pet tomorrow but New Music today (Friday) w/ Kacey Musgraves & Metallica/ Vera Farmiga quote

morning babble / Friday 09-10-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Where are you Rolling Stone with music reviews? You get like two in this recent issue. However, I am enjoying the Silk Sonic interview with Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars.

I did listen to the Soup Dragons this past week – Love God. Today, I’m going to listen to their

Hotwired – Subsequent albums continued in the band’s own style and in 1992, they enjoyed their biggest US hit with “Divine Thing” which reached No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100.[4] It also hit No. 3 on the Modern Rock chart and its video was nominated by MTV as one of the year’s best,[6] though beaten by Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.[

This Sunday night is the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards – remember that? Still happening, host Doja Cat, Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Foo Fighters, and Jack Harlow. Isn’t that what set off Russell Brand.

I ran – 253 – 5K runs for the year on day #253

And the Evans family gets a new pet tomorrow.

New Music Friday:

  • In conjunction with their 30th-anniversary reissue of The Black Album, Metallica are releasing today – The Metallica Blacklist. Benefiting various charities. After months and month of releases, it’s a 53-track, four-hour compilation of different artists covering Black Album songs. Artists include: Phoebe Bridgers, Weezer, St. Vincent, J Balvin, Miley Cyrus, and the Neptunes.
  • Several weeks ago, we got “Visiting Hours” from Ed Sheeran. Before that, it was “Bad Habits.” Both off of his upcoming his fifth studio album, = (pronounced equals), to be released on October 29th. Today, we get “Shivers” – that’s a good sounding pop song.
  • Via Pitchfork, I read that Kacey Musgraves stated: “I wasn’t going to be a real country artist without at least one divorce under my belt.” She filed for divorce last summer and today has a new album out – Star Crossed. billed as a “tragedy in three parts” – you get 15 tracks.
  • Lana Del Rey’s next studio album Blue Banisters will arrive October 22. We also got to hear the LP’s latest single, “Arcadia.” AND – there is a self directed video for it – click here.
  • Eddie Vedder – the Pearl Jam frontman – has shared “Long Way,” the first single from his forthcoming solo album Earthling. He hasn’t had a solo album in ten years. I enjoyed the chill sound from Ukulele Songs and this song “Long Way” appears that way too – minus the ukulele sound.

Friday Eve!

I don’t think I complain about too many things on here – mainly because I’m trying to help set a good tone for the day for myself and for anyone watching. BUT – this one gripe I think is good advice too. When you get a voicemail message from someone, listen to it before calling that person back.

It’s voicemail, just listen. Otherwise, it’s simply poor usage of modern everyday technology.

I ran #252 in a row of 5K Every Day.

Every one crashed on me early last night. So much so, I thought it was like 11pm or midnight. First day of school brought them all to sleep time fast. I forgot how much that school does that to my family. With Zoom – the kids are still bouncing off the walls afterwards. With actual school, they so tired!

Bye-bye Summer/ Reggae led me to Soup Dragons listen/ Talking sleep with Matthew Walker & Kevin Rose

morning babble / Tuesday 09-07-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Welcome to Not Monday / Happy New Year to my Jewish friends. Summer – all done after yesterday’s holiday. We actually visited White Clay Creek State Park. Old people busting a move make me smile. The Reggae Music made me remember Soup Dragons “I’m Free.” Going to listen to that album (Lovegod) today.

I ran / #250 of 5K runs in a row for the year.

On the mill, I enjoyed the Kevin Rose Show, who actually has two other podcasts going on – one for cryptocurrency and the other one for NFTs. But this show – just for regular people like us. He had Mathew Walker on who wrote Why We Sleep. He has changed his tune slightly with coffee intake. Stresses that coffee can be good, but pick the timing and dosage of the poison. Make sure you have it a good 10 to 12 hours before bed. AND – you can have up to 3 cups of coffee. Trying to determine the true “cup” of coffee is all over the place though. A cup = 8 oz. But, some people credit a cup of coffee to being 6 oz. The old Mr. Coffee measurements on the side of the pot used to be close to 5 oz. I deem my travel mug an official “cup”. That’s 16 oz though . . . probably shouldn’t have three of those.

Happy Labor Day! Rosh Hashanah begins tonight (sundown) for all my Jewish friends. Early Happy New Year!

I’m doing my routine today, just shifted it a little later since there was a mini sleeping in. I am working on my 90 minute morning routine. Marked down a couple key start times for various things. Wake up / Bathroom / Hit the treadmill / Coffee Brewing / Dressed for the day / Journal time / Babble / Get the hell outta here time

That could have been really bad. I did a Superman fall, but I got back up. Garmin alert was tried. Not by me, but by the watch. It knew that something was wrong.

#247 of 5K runs was completed though!

3 Day Fast – Not Labor Day Monday, the following Monday

Happy B-day Mom!/ New Music Friday: Drake, Charli XCX, AJR/ Sting quote

morning babble / Friday 09-03-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Happy Birthday, Mom! I think this is where she gets all her info on me.

My son, Elliott, was with me all day working and it was great. I kept reaching over an petting him on the head.

I ran #246 of 5K runs for the year – in a row.

New Music Friday:

  • Drake’s new album is finally out. Originally scheduled for January . . . there was a delay because of a bum knee. Anyway after teasing the it’s arrival with a SportsCenter spot, Certified Lover Boy is out today – 21 songs, around an hour and a half of music. JAY-Z, Future, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Travis Scott. A whole lotta people. It’s first full-length studio record since 2018’s Scorpion
  • Charli XCX came out with a new video and single this past week – “Good Ones” but then if you check out the video, it’s difficult to get the image of her dancing on a coffin.
  • Swedish pop icons ABBA have shared two new songs, the previously teased “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down.” The tracks will be included on Voyage, the band’s first new album since 1981. The record is out November 5.
  • Jon Batiste has the Freedia Remix of his song “Freedom”. Totally liking the remix, but it also made me pull up his new album from March – We Are. It’s a nice jazz, funk album. Also, he’s the bandleader on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.  Possible vinyl for me.
  • Sting has announced his 15th solo studio album, The Bridge. Today you can hear the upbeat tune, “If It’s Love.” The 10-track album will be released on November 19. He’s going to turn 70 on my daughter’s birthday – October 2nd.
  • AJR has teamed up with Daisy the Great for a new song called “Record Player.” The track is a reworked version of the Daisy tune “The Record Player Song,” which was originally released in 2017 before finding a new life recently on TikTok. It was on TikTok that AJR‘s Jack Met heard the original song, and decided to reach out.
  • Lastly, I’ve been wrapping this New Music Friday with Donda updates from Kanye West. Yes – it’s out. 27 songs, nearly 2 hours of music. dozens of guests including Marilyn Manson, Chris Brown, the Weeknd, the late Pop Smoke – lots. I’m still listening. I have noticed that there aren’t many drums and that sticks out to me.
