Talking about Jason Kelce’s Brother’s Girlfriend / New Music Friday / Taylor Swift Quote

morning babble / Friday 09-29-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

“I like Jason Kelce. Go Birds.”

Blank Space cut

Morning Babble intro

Happy Weekend! Almost ended my 3-Day Fast early – almost 2 days and 21 hours. I so wanted to pound a beverage or two. “Does he have a problem?” I’m good, but thanks work for almost blowing that fast. I ended up having delicious soup, bread, and white wine. Chocolates afterwards. Delightful. / Typically, I have tacos or chicken wings (drop)

Self-promotion time –

Isn’t that exciting.

A little bit of New Music News

All this talk about Jason Kelce’s brother and his brother’s girlfriend . . . I thought we would get a new song or something today from her. “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” will be available Oct. 27, the same date the original album was released nine years ago. exclusive bonus track will be available on the tangerine edition of the vinyl, which will be available at Target stores on Oct. 27. “Sweeter Than Fiction”

From the Vault – “Is It Over Now?” / “Now That We Don’t Talk” / “Say Don’t Go” / “Suburban Legends” / and the last one was just put out “Slut” – Now, Travis – I was just saying the song title that she wrote – I like Taylor. (drop)

I might order it for my daughter (right)

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • Math symbol fanatic, Ed Sheeran, ran out of math symbols for his newest album has made an apparent shift to the seasons. I’m not guaranteeing 3 more albums in the next year. Weezer did this trick a year ago. Today’s album drop is called: Autumn Variations – 14 new songs – nearly 50 minutes of new music. Spotify is highlighting “American Town.” (clip)
  • I’ve never been a big Rolling Stones fan. Maybe it’s because Jagger reminds me of someone who was sort of a bully to me when growing up (Christmas Story drop). It’s okay we’re good now, but Mick’s image still emits that initial fear to me. I respect the Stones. I played them a lot on the radio and always understood that they obviously belonged there – on those Rock stations of my past. Fast forward to today (sounder) I am all in on their new music and I’ve already enjoyed their first new song “Angry” (clip) and the video. But now the collaborations on their 2nd single includes Lady Gaga singing along and Stevie Wonder on fancy piano “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” (clip) By the way – The Lady Gaga had just stopped by to say hello as she was recording in the same studio, and started singing along to the track.
  • Wilco’s frontman, Jeff Tweedy, has released 4 solo albums and 3 books over the past decade. So, he’s been busy. There’s also been a couple Wilco albums mixed in as well as a deluxe reissue edition of their 2002 Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Today though – it’s back to Wilco with their new album – Cousin – and here’s the title track of the album . . . “Cousin”: (clip)
  • Several quick hits of new music: If you’re a Peter Gabriel fan and you looked to the sky to see the recent full moon, you know what’s up – another new song – this one is called “This Is Home” // Pearl Jam released a live version of “Black” from their very first show of 2023 in St. Paul. Not sure if that means an entire live album is coming – I’ll take it, but I’m greedy though too – get me that album of new material! // Today, you can listen to nearly 3 hours of music spread out over 65 songs of Dookie – Green Day’s 30 Anniversary of this famed album // Lil Wayne’s album is out in its entirety and is called The Fix Before Tha VI – track one includes the work of one of my favs – Jon Batiste. This is “Act Up.” (clip)

Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.

Happy One Hit Wonder Day – apparently, it’s a thing?

(Tubthumping clip)

Babble Opener

Happy Monday and yes – Happy National One Hit Wonder Day

Also, on this date back in 1990, INXS released their X album, which included many hits like Suicide Blonde, Disappear, By My Side, and an absolute favorite of mine The Stairs (clip)

Alright, before I turn this into a music show, I did want update about my running.

I’m about to run / Plan on running every day this week as I truly train towards another race.

Yes – yesterday did not happen.

Too much wet and I wasn’t going to have my family be out there in it.

So, looking ahead, I’m hoping for good weather and it appears that I might be able to do the Kettle Cooker Five & Dime on October 8th presented by Philadelphia Runner, Herr’s Snacks and Altra Running! Appears there’s a 5 mile race and a 10 mile race. No 5k and 10k.

So, that’s the latest with running.

And, to help me get a little faster and hopefully closer to Jiu-Jitsu weight – I do have a 3 Day Fast beginning tonight after dinner. I use the Zero App for every one of my fasts. It’s free – I’ll provide a link.

Felt Like Christmas with Today’s New Music Friday: Blink-182, The National, and Beck / Mark Hoppus Quote

morning babble / Friday 09-22-23

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

(Blink clip)

You’ve got a happy Brent today. That’s some new Blink-182

(Blink clip)

(Babble Opener)

Ahhhh – New Music Friday – I do get that Christmas Eve feeling on Thursday’s night “Friday Eve” for myself – that’s how much I love music. If I happen to wake up in the Thursday overnight at like 2am and I’ll take a peek at all the musical gifts left for me via Spotify Santa. (Christmas Story drop)

We’ll get to New Music Friday in a second, but as always – lately – here’s the self-promotion part of the video. Share – don’t keep me all to yourself – I know that I’m a good snuggler, but please share. Spread the Babble. Subscribe on YouTube. Sign up for the newsletter – next weekend is October. You won’t be getting a new one then, but I will have an October newsletter coming out.

Couple things with the Babble – I’ll be checking in this weekend as I prep for my 5k race on Sunday. As for the weather on Sunday – wet. It’s not just a chance of rain. It’s 3/4″ of rain will be here. That’s wet. Can’t wait. Lastly – 3 Day Fast is next week – won’t you join in. (Van Wilder Drop “won’t you join me”)

Whole lot of Brent music today

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • New Blink-182! For me and many of their fans – finally! And – we didn’t just get one, but two new songs. I played at the beginning of the Babble today – the “B” side or Track 2 is the song: “More Than You Know.” Then, the other one is the titled track of their upcoming album which is due out in its entirety on October 20th: “One More Time . . . ” (clip) Via Pitchfork’s Evan Minsker: “Travis Barker noted in the album’s announcement trailer that this new song focuses on the question of “why does it take these catastrophes like me being in a plane crash or Mark being sick for our band to get back together.” By the way, this song they even got Barker to sing a bit by himself (clip)
  • The National – I’ve been listening to this album non-stop. I’ve even written a script for a review and still have every intention of producing it. BUT – this was their newest album (released back in April). Last Friday night during their Homecoming Festival in Cincinnati, up on stage – they announced a companion album to this one. The new LP is called: Laugh Track. We’ve already heard several of the songs but there’s a total of 12 and the song being pushed today on Spotify is “Deep End.” (clip)
  • Earlier this month, the Chemical Brothers released their album: For That Beautiful Feeling – I enjoy the Chemical Brothers, but it was not on my radar. But today though, it is – because they released a video for a single that they are pushing: “Skipping Like a Stone.” Why do I like this so much – you got my man, Beck, guesting with his vocals (clip) Sorry – I know Beck didn’t sing yet and I really don’t know how many people will get what I just did there, but the beginning of that song reminded me so much of the beginning of Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing.” I can’t playing the clips – otherwise, I get flagged, but definitely something to go back and listen to. It’s on the playlist! Alright, let’s hear Beck this time (clip)
  • Soccer Mommy—aka Sophie Allison—recently shared her version of Sheryl Crow’s “Soak Up The Sun” as well as Taylor Swift’s “I’m Only Me When I’m With You” – I played that one a couple weeks ago. Out today, we get the 5 song EP appropriately titled Karaoke Night since she is covering five of her favorite songs to play live. Here’s a little snippet of “Here” – the cover she does from the band, Pavement (clip)
  • Several quick hits of new music: Kylie Minogue’s Deluxe version of her album: Tension – all out in its glory today // Doja Cat? Same thing with her album: Scarlet // Zach Bryan? He’s got a little 5 song EP out called Boys of Faith // and lastly, the Awolnation dude has a new song out. I know it’s a band, but it’s mainly Aaron Bruno at the front. This is “Candy Pop” (clip) I am always a sucker for a video shot of the needle dropping onto vinyl (clip)
