(Missed Music Monday opener)
On Friday, the new album from Justin Timberlake dropped in its entirety – Everything I Thought It Was (Dennis Green drop) Close but that’s not what I said. Again it’s Everything I Thought It Was. I did listen to all 18 songs. An hour an 17 minutes worth of JT. That’s a lot. I do enjoy his music (“Have you naked” cut) That’s a good line from an older song (Boing) That’s from the new album, track #10 called “Sanctified.” I don’t think I’m going to get anywhere if I say “Boing. That’s what it do when I see you.” (Imagination) Someone tastes like cotton candy? That sounds fun. (to the car) So, I’m going to be here for awhile. Giving the new Justin Timberlake album another go. It just sounds different in the car. Meanwhile, I’m trapped with nowhere to go.

(“Why Go” cut)
What happens after you go to Pearl Jam night at the Flyers game. You begin playing PJ.
(“Why Go” cut)
Morning Babble Intro
What happens for Pearl Jam night. For starters, we get a cool shirt with the Flyers mascot Gritty doing the Eddie Vedder thing with jumping over the speakers. Pearl Jam written in the back. We were there early for a show by The Ledbetters – a really good Pearl Jam tribute band who performs throughout the Philly area (cut) As for the hockey game, my Flyers lost. Wasn’t pretty. Did we leave early? The final was 6 -2 – what do you think? I still have faith though. I’m hoping for some Flyers PLAYOFF hockey. (“Alive” clip) Back to Pearl Jam – they have a new album out on April 19th aka Taylor Swift release day. What no Taylor Swift cut? (Pearl Jam) Alright, just Pearl Jam – no new new music today ever since the single was released that’s goes by the same name of the album: Dark Matter (“Dark Matter” clip) After the 4/19 release day, April 20th is Record Store Day. Last year, Pearl Jam had this live album released on vinyl. Hoping for something this year too.

New Music Friday:
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
First up – Vampire Weekend (clip) I just love playing clips of them. Anyway – they are back with a third release off of their new album: Only God Was Above Us – all out on April 5th. We already got “Capricorn” and “Gen-X Cops.” Last week, I mentioned that they have kicked off a podcast as well called Vampire Campfire. Vampire boys have been busy. Back to the new song that also arrives with a new music video – it’s “Classical.” (clip)
Myles Smith – I’ve talked about him recently a couple times (clip – Sweater Weather) That’s a cover of The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” – it’s a song that really set him off online. Growing up, Myles began by singing covers of Chris Martin, Mumford & Sons and Ed Sheeran. However, he’s a big boy now and has his own original sound out, like “Solo” (clip) That’s one of the songs off his upcoming album release on March 29th called You Promised A Lifetime. Not only have we gotten the song, “Solo”, but there’s been 3 other releases. And now – a fifth – we’re going have the whole shi-bang before we know it. Here’s the latest: “Betting On Us”. (clip)
24kGoldn released what is called an album today – Growing Pains. But – it’s only 7 songs and just under 20 minutes of music. Does that count as an album? (Jeopardy sounder) Here’s the definition of an album “a collection of songs with a side A and a side B representing the two sides of a long-playing (LP) vinyl record. An EP, or Extended-play album is shorter than an LP album but longer than a two-sided single—they’ll typically feature 4-5 tracks with a playtime of 25 to 30 minutes.” So, I guess 24kGoldn has himself an album regardless. I do like the song “Good Intentions” (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: Dua Lipa has officially announced her new album, Radical Optimism and it arrives May 3rd // Feeling a little “off” after splitting with Offset, Cardi B appears to slowly be having more and more fun making some music – “Enough (Miami)” – can I play a cut? (clip) That’s it – go listen for yourself and enjoy – it is a fun one. // And finally, one of my favorites that I’ve been tracking – Elbow: their album Audio Vertigo comes out next Friday – the 22nd, but they gave us another single to enjoy until then called: “Good Blood Mexico City” (cut)
Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
Be sure to check out the playlist on Spotify and yes, as I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from Ben Rector, DaBaby, Trippie Red, and Bon Jovi (clip) not that song, but another one by the Jersey Boy – it’s new stuff that I just didn’t get to for today.

Back in December, the movie Wonka came to theaters. As explained on Wikipedia, it was a musical fantasy film that tells the origin story of Willy Wonka of his early days as a chocolatier.
(Missed Music Monday opener)
Released on the same day as the movie Wonka, but not associated with the film nor on its soundtrack was a song from Jagwar Twin called: “Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)”
(cut)
Missed Music Monday – obviously, I missed this song back in December. And then, digging into the music of Jagwar Twin, I missed a lot. Some good music there – it’s an alternative pop/rock sound that mixes in accordians and children’s choirs, as for what’s in the pipeline, nothing new since this “Bad Feeling” song.
(cut)

(Look What You Made Me Do – Swift)
Twice a week at my local gym, I have workouts with female trainer. My little girl loves the fact that I get my butt kicked by a girl. What makes it even better – her name is Taylor.
(Look What You Made Me Do – Swift)
Morning Babble Intro
“Daddy, did you get your butt kicked again by a girl?” Yes – yes, Violet I did. Girl Power. To find a good “Girl Power” song, I searched Spotify and they did have a “Girl Power” Playlist. #2 was that Taylor Swift song “Look What You Made Me Do”. There’s was nearly 200 songs on that list. I looked through a bunch of Beyonce, there was Pink, Sheryl Crow – more on her later, and M.I.A. (“Bad Girls”) love me some M.I.A. – the song for the list was “Bad Girls” but I know that what she is probably best known for is the “Paper Planes” song (Paper Planes” cut) That’s off of M.I.A.’s album from 2007 titled Kala. I’ll give you another one to go listen to off of that same album: “World Town” (cut)
Little edgy – couldn’t play you the actual video. A little too much bang-bang. Good song though – I’ve run to that one, worked out to it. Hopefully, we’ll get some more new music from M.I.A. in the nearby future. In the meantime . . . (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
Welcome to New Music Friday

As the days get closer to April 5th (clip) we slowly get more and more music from the album titled: Ohio Players. This will be the 12th studio album from the band – The Black Keys. We’ve already gotten the songs “Beautiful People” and “I Forgot to Be Your Lover.” Today, we have a 3rd release. The song is called “This Is Nowhere.” (clip)
Back in September of 1992, Mr. Peter Gabriel had his first release off of his sixth studio album called Us. The song was “Digging in the Dirt.” (clip) 32 years later, he does back-up singing as Ms. Sheryl Crow takes the lead to do a cover of the same song (clip) Again, that’s “Digging in the Dirt” – the latest single from one of last year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Sheryl Crow. It’s going to be on her 11th studio album called Evolution and all out in its full glory on March 29th.
(“Serotonin” Clip) That’s girl In red – like how she uses all lowercase for the name – and her song “Serotonin” which was pretty much the introduction to her sound. The album was from 2021. A new one is coming and she has called it: I’m Doing It Again Baby – comes out on April 12th. Today we have the album’s 2nd release, now again the album is I’m Doing It Again Baby. The new song – drop the I’m – and it’s called “Doing It Again Baby” (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: Bleachers just dropped an album in its entirety called – Bleachers. The song being pushed by Spotify is “Jesus is Dead.” Speaking of which – when’s Easter? // March 31st is when Peter Cottontail arrives – one day away from April Fool’s Day. I’m always amused when that does happen. Sorry – let’s transition back to music – Only God Was Above Us – the new album from Vampire Weekend to be released fully on April 5th. BUT – that’s not all that Vampire Weekend has been doing. Ahead of the album release, they have launched a podcast called Vampire Campfire // And lastly, Sam Beam aka Iron and Wine has a new album coming out on April 26th called Light Verse. We got a song today from that album called “All in Good Time” but – it’s duet that includes Fiona Apple (cut)
Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
