Does everyone have their own special song that they lean into during trying times?
That’s mine – the live version of “Runaway” from the National
(song)
Off of their High Violet album from 2010 – I liked it then, but something about the live version is magical to me. It is funny though how I’ll sing along to the “I won’t run”
(Day #107)
A lot of people interpret the song as relationship between you and a significant other. My feeling with it is me against life. And to that – I won’t run away.

Coachella 2025 is on its final day for its 1st Weekend. Then, they have 3 more days over the Bunny holiday weekend. On this date, one year ago at Coachella, Sublime reunited.
(What I Got – Remember that)
This time though – Sublime is fronted by Jakob Nowell, whose father Bradley was the group’s lead singer until his death in 1996
(Feel Like That)
A whole new album is being worked on right now with Jakob remaining as the lead singer. One of the producers is Blink 182’s Travis Barker. And I ran.

Happy Record Store Day! Did you get your vinyl today? I did hit up my favorite place to go Rainbow Records in Newark, DE but I was to the late party. I did NOT get my wishlist fulfilled. But – I did get something.
(“Father, Son”)
And I did have my son by my side, which I always feel like it makes it even more special. Yeah, I got this at Rainbow Records on Record Store Day, but my boy, Elliott, was with me.
(Day #102)
Yes – I ran. #102. And the album I got was available for the first time today on vinyl – from Mr. Peter Gabriel – his 11th album – OVO. The release marks the album’s 25th anniversary.

Happy Weekend! Or – I should say Happy “Record Store” Weekend! (Record in my Head)
Speaking of records – this one – Jack White’s No Name album was my #1 on Top 20 albums of 2024. Why am I talking about it today? (clip – must tell 7 friends) My favorite song off the album is now the song being pushed on AltNation – “Archbishop Harold Holmes” – (cut) It’s truly climbing up higher and higher on my favorites of all time from Jack White.
Alright – Who’s coming up! Green Day, Arcade Fire, Pulp, Ken Carson, and More
(Countdown Video)
New Music Weekend:
I just mentioned Jack White owning the #1 slot on my Top 20 albums of 2024. But kicking off that countdown at #20 was Green Day with their Saviors album (clip) I said it then and I’ll say it again “I forgot how good this album was.” And now -we have arriving on May 23rd, an expanded deluxe edition of Saviors (clip) Dubbed Saviors (édition de luxe), the expanded version includes seven additional tracks to the original 15-song album. Today – we get to enjoy one of those extras – “Smash It Like Belushi” (clip)
Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire have announced their 7th studio album called Pink Elephant (“Pink Pony Club”) Elephant, Pink Elephant – which the band describes as “that paradoxical effect where the effort to suppress a thought leads to it being impossible to avoid.” (blank stare) May 9th the album arrives, but one of the new songs is here early “Year of the Snake” (clip)
Pulp are back for More – that’s actually the name of their upcoming album. First one in 24 years (“Common People”) June 6th – More arrives. Today, though we’ve got the album’s track #1 “Spike Island” (cut)
Two of most favorite dudes that I listened to last year. Shaboozey (clip) and Myles Smith (clip). So, guess what – together they’re doing a song “Blink Twice” (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: Happy 25th Birthday to Ken Carson. How did he celebrate? By releasing his 4th studio album – 22 songs in all. It’s called – More Chaos / Another big album out that I have to mention – Bon Iver – 11 tracks – all wrapped up under the title of SABLE, fABLE // Canadian legend Joel Plaskett turns 50 next week – he’s my 50s club – welcome. To celebrate, a whole bunch of Canadian musicians joined together to cover his songs for a compilation titled: Songs from the Gang – A Celebration of Joel Plaskett. And yes – that sounds like he’s dead, but instead just 50. A band that jumped out to me who did one of his songs was the Arkells. They covered “Come On, Teacher” (clip)
Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Spill Magazine, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that! Anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

Twas the day before Record Store Day and – yeah, it’s not Nirvana that has a vinyl release. Instead it’s the Ambassador of Record Store Day 2025 – Post Malone
(“Circles” song)
That’s an actual Post Malone song. However, what he is releasing tomorrow on vinyl is Post Malone Tribute to Nirvana. Can’t play you anything from that because it doesn’t exist except for the vinyl. That’s why I need to go get that vinyl tomorrow.
(Day #101)
Oh yeah – I ran. My mind is on getting that record tomorrow, which me luck.

“Even Roosevelt, with his singular disciplined drive, managed to quit work early four or five afternoons each week for a game of tennis or jog through Rock Creek Park.”
That was 1890 – did Theodore Roosevelt invent jogging?
(AJR “100 Bad Days”)
People at parties will be – “Don’t go near Brent. He just talks about exercise all the time.”
Yesterday was 99, today it’s 100.
