Paul Russell – Lil Boo Thing cut
“Not even half way through January and I’m playing that song and thinking of warmer weather. Is that really snow for Tuesday. I am so ready for June-uary. (off to the side) Does that even make sense?”

Morning Babble Intro
New Music Friday:
Happy Weekend! Survived the first full workweek of the new year. How about them goals? Keeping the focus? I have to say I’m excited because I was able to add something to my morning routine arsenal to help me Win the Day.
To go along with my morning journal entry, I enjoy a good Daily Reading
Let’s just jump into it and go (running man clip) NEW MUSIC FRIDAY
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
This first one I’m really psyched on because I had no idea that they were coming out with something new. The Black Keys (Loney Boy) – that’s not the new song, that was “Lonley Boy”. BUT – coming out on April 5th is Ohio Players – the duo’s first full-length album since 2022’s Dropout Boogie. Now, the first song was actually co-written by Beck (Two Turntables) I don’t believe Beck is actually on this song, but simply helped scribble it out. However, if rumor has it, Beck does appear on another track along with rapper Juicy J. We don’t get that one today. The one we do get is “Beautiful People (Stay High)” (clip)
An album that I did know was arriving this year in 2024 was Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations by The Vaccines. We’ve already gotten several songs from the album last year – like 4. Don’t worry – there’s another six to enjoy. I’ve listened to them and my ears perked up to “Another Nightmare.” (clip) However, the one that Spotify is highlighting and the band came out for another video for is “Discount De Kooning” (clip)
Judah & the Lion made the announcement of their new album: The Process coming out in its entirety on May 10th. This is the band’s fifth full-length effort and the follow-up to 2022’s Revival. Posted on Instagram (clip) the band stated “One of our most difficult records to write as we aired out our struggles with grieving. You’re not alone, and we hope this record helps you feel that.” Here’s a clip of the released new track, “Is What It Is” (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: Missed this one last week – Liam Gallagher and Stone Roses guitarist John Squire are doing a little project together and shared a new song – “Just Another Rainbow” // Another one missed – Alkaline Trio with “Versions of You” – full album Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs arrives January 26th // The song “Hey” from Aura Davis comes along with a new video too. That sofa looks like the place to hang out (clip) // 21 Savage – new album is out: American Dream // Lil Nas X surprised us with a new song and video called “J Christ” – that’s right, singing about JC – wasn’t he a Backstreet Boy? // Via Rolling Stone, I saw that Suki Waterhouse was channeling France’s greatest & most popular singers Edith (eh deet) Piaf in the video for her new song “OMG” (clip)

I’m sorry – I know this Quote of the Day is a repeat from last year at some point, but I’m using it in my journal

Pink Cut of “So What”
Happy New Year?
Pink Cut of “So What”
Morning Babble Intro
Yes – Happy First Weekend of 2024 and I guess one final Happy 2024 and that’s it out of me for new year’s wishes. (Larry David drop)
I opened the Babble today with Pink and her song “So What”. I heard some new music today which triggered that song in my head . . . I’ll get to it shortly.
It took me several hours to click-click-click through the files in my head to figure out what song it was making me think of. Initially, I thought it was The Pretty Reckless (clip) Kept going through song after song of them. By the way, Taylor Momsen is the lead singer of that band but she is also known for playing Cindy Lou Who with Jim Carrey in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. (clip) I just have to say. I loved her Instagram posts around the holidays. She fully embraced having done that role and put out some really fun holiday posts. She’s a rocker and it was nice to see that. I then pivoted (clip) to Kesha. I played a lot of Kesha (clip) – I really thought it was Kesha (clip) It wasn’t Kesha. But then – click, click, click – it happened – PINK! (clip) I’ll get to that in a bit.

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that! SUBSCRIBE!!!!!!
First up – remember the song “Laid”, remembering getting laid? Alright this is awkward – play the clip (James – “Laid”). From 1993, that’s “Laid” by the band: James. Today, from the band July Talk we get a cover of the song (clip – girl singing) I’m not all that familiar with the band and I liked the girl’s voice, but then (clip – guy singing) I wasn’t ready for that transition. I wasn’t. I liked it though. This is actually part of a 5 song EP that they released in late December, but it popped up – Laid – on my Spotify Release Radar list today, so I wanted to pass it along. Being good is not one of my new year’s resolutions (clip)
Couple hip-hop songs got my attention. This first one I really connected with (clip) Alright, maybe not that part, but I did eventually connect and thoroughly enjoyed that one – which was “Good Intentions” from 24kGoldn (clip). More hip-hop – on New Year’s Day, The Game and Big Hit teamed up along with producer Hit-Boy for a new album: Paisley Dreams. The song that I heard and enjoyed was “P-Fiction” (clip)
Green Day – new album “Saviors” drops on January 19th – thats their 14th studio album – that’s also known as – a lot. For the time being, the boys did give us another song to enjoy (clip) That’s called “One Eyed Bastard” and that’s the song that made me think of the PINK song “So What” – it was the very beginning of it. We’ll do the back & forth thing. This is Green Day (clip) this is PINK (clip) again, Green Day (clip) and PINK (clip). Do you think they got that? //
Several quick hits of new music: Playboi Carti has released a new song with Travis Scott called “Backr00ms,” alongside a music video which features Carti showering a dancer with money. Go Google that one // The Boston Trio – Pile – released a 5 song EP called Hot Air Ballon. Couple months ago – one of the songs was released with a video called “The Birds Attacked My Hot Air Balloon.” I’m going to go a little deeper on these guys. // And lastly, if you’re in Philly, it’s David Bowie week. All my years of being in the area and being in radio, unfortunately, I had never heard of Bowie week in Philly. I learned about it while reading the article from Dan Deluca of the Philly inquirer. I’ll link the story – click here (clip)
