Clean House! / I said what on Jan 2nd? / It’s Goal Setting Monday / Quote via Mary Anne Radmacher

morning babble / Monday 04-11-22

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!

So, we had some family over yesterday and you know what that means – we have to clean the house and act like this is how we always live – hahahaha. I love it when people visit – seeing the peeps is good. Getting the super clean house though – even better.

New Music Friday:

  • Officially out on all streaming platforms – Fear of the Dawn – from Jack White. I have been enjoying it, but I am a Jack White fan. However, I have to admit that his album from 2018 – Boarding House Reach – not so much a fan. He was trying something entirely different in that one . . . and I didn’t really get it too much. He’s doing something different again, but I’m liking this one more. It’s still not the White Stripes sound but I hear the guitar at times that I want to hear and certain songs I’m already looking forward to hearing again. As stated yesterday, a favorite for me is “Morning, Noon and Night.”
  • Father John Misty’s new album – Chloë and The Next 20th Century – is all out today. I’ve discussed a couple releases already “Goodbye, Mr. Blue” and “Funny Girl”. The single being pushed now is “Kiss Me (I Loved You)”. Very relaxing sound to everything that I’ve heard. And – I’ve said it before, typically not something I would listen to . . . especially on a cranky day like yesterday, but maybe not such a bad idea to chill me out.
  • Earlier this week, Pusha T released a new song with Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams called “Neck & Wrist.” I wanted something more. It’s just “there” for me. I mean, Jay-Z – Pharrell – I wanted sneak peak of summer fun hit. Anyway, the new single, as well as February’s release “Diet Coke,” will be on the now named album – It’s Almost Dry from Pusha T. However, no release date as of yet.
  • A new Sinatra song popped up on my Spotify today. The song is “Watertown” and it’s a remixed song. Nothing has been announced, but this might mean that the entire album – also called Watertown – might be getting a reissue Originally from 1970, this is a concept album that tells a full-fledged story about a fictional town – Watertown. Its Old Blue Eyes giving a try at some rock-oriented pop music. I’ll take it. One of my favorite things to do every Sunday morning is pull up the show “Playing Favorites on Sinatra”. It’s a weekly show hosted by someone new each week – singers, actors, someone known – and they play their favorite songs from Sinatra. It’s on Siriusly Sinatra via SirusXM.
  • Oh yeah – FYI – the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album – Unlimited Love – thumbs up! It’s amazing what bringing back an old band member can do for the group – I’m talking about guitarist John Frusciante (froo shaa tay)

HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!

I wanted to be more up today. Yesterday . . . wasn’t feeling it and would hate to think that I’d bring anyone down. I’m not forcing out any happiness though. I’m going to explain my struggles.

$4000 Coffee Machine from Jura / Z10 Aluminum White

Flat White / Latte Macchiato / Flat White / Cappuccino

How do you feel? I think I could pick up my truck and run it home at this point. She laughed. I then added – if I ever run into you guys at a bar, I’m leaving.

Happy Monday!

Duke from Genesis / Go Tar Heels

Sad news – we did lose Estelle Harris at the age of 93 – she was the voice of Mrs. Potato Head in the “Toy Story” franchise, but she was also the mother of Seinfeld’s George Costanza on “Seinfeld”.

We got through an awards ceremony and nobody got hurt. Except for some egos probably. I was excited to see that Questlove won a Grammy after just winning the Oscar last weekend. However, my favorite was Jon Batiste winning the Album Of The Year award for We Are. I actually have the song from it – “Freedom” on my Morning Babble Spotify Playlist – I hear it every morning here.

I won’t go through anything else with the Grammys except for one piece of attire. The suit. My parents gave me for my birthday a new suit, but my dad and I will be going shopping for it together and we haven’t done that yet. After seeing Jusin Bieber though . . . maybe I don’t need to get a new suit.

GOAL SETTING MONDAY & REVIEW –

What’s next? Initially, I wanted to do a word count for my book this month, but really need to focus on building up my routine first. Next month, I was looking at another health challenge, but I could always do both at the same time.

Working on an hour of writing on Monday and Wednesday nights. Not sure how that’s going to change with my son’s baseball schedule. Always thrown curveballs there.

Put it on the calendar!

Meatless March – accomplished it. Today, the meats will be had – no joking either.

Ooo – AND the Skippy PB recall is not a joke either. Can’t believe it. Salmonella

New Music Friday:

Before we get into the new stuff, one thing I’m still saddened by is the loss of Taylor Hawkins – the drummer of the Foo Fighters, but a great musician overall. I heard nothing but good things about him as a musician as well as begin a dad, friend, and person. Gonna miss the man – Taylor Hawkins.

  • New Red Hot Chili Peppers album officially drops today. This is their 1st one in six years AND it has guitarist John Frusciante (froo shaa tay) back in more than a decade. We’ve already heard “Black Summer” and “Poster Child” but today we get all 17 songs from Unlimited Love – over an hour of music – now, that’s an album!
  • 21-year-old Jamaican reggae star Koffee has officially released her debut album called Gifted. This is her first full-length LP after she dropped her Rapture EP three years ago. Gifted brings with it 10 tracks that already includes hit singles like “Lockdown,” “West Indies” and “Pull Up.” Koffee.
  • Last Friday, I talked about Harry Styles, the former One Direction singer, coming out with a new album: Harry’s House on May 20th. But we didn’t get any actual new music. Today, we do have “As It Was.” Again, this is Harry’s third solo record and will span 13 songs. He’s also doing that little Coachella shindig later this month. I would think he’d be teasing some more new music there, but we’ll most definitely get that “Watermelon Sugar” song, too.
  • Got another cover song from Awolnation along with Hanson (yeah, “MMMbop”). We get to hear Madonna’s “Material Girl” redone. This is the third release from an entire album of covers that can all be heard on May 6th – it’s called My Echo, My Shadow, My Covers & Me. Again, Awolnation.
  • If you want a 50’s Rock & Roll sound, then JD McPherson is the guy to turn to. Today, we get a new tune out of him called “Let’s Rock.” I can’t find anything about another whole album, but this is a start. If you haven’t heard of him before and again like that 50’s sound, you must go check out JD McPherson – “North Side Gal” – one of my favorites.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!

276 days until EXIT PLAN

Meatless March – what did I learn?

Things normally not chosen, but liked: Spicy Potatoes – ordered at Suki Hana in the Christiana Mall – very good. Veggie Lo Mein was fine, but the spicy potatoes – the winner!

Things I liked the best: All the Mexican food – burritos / tacos / chips & salsa

Least favorite meal: General Tso’s Bean Curd – our local Chinese place for take-out. It was tofu – the nasty kind. Gassy stuff, too. I was in pain that night.

The closest “whoops”: A pork roll sandwich from Wawa

Biggest “surprise”: The Veggie button on the menu at Wawa

What food did I miss the most?: Snackin’ Bacon from Dunkin’ / Hot Wings on Friday night and Pepperoni Pizza

Meatless March – what happened overall?

Sleep – tough call / It was a bad month of sleep, but I don’t think I can blame the diet. Allergies were kicking in. However, it didn’t help or improve anything.

Energy – eh. Another tough call. I felt more tired in the mornings, but that was because of the bad sleep, which was a cause of allergies kicking in.

I was definitely more hungry the whole month. I definitely ate more. AND – I gained weight. Every month last year – I lost weight. Beginning of January, I ticked up 5 lbs because I stopped running for a good week? End of January – it was gone again. For February, I held a weight that I liked all month but overall – lost a pound. This month at the end of it – I gained over 9 lbs.
